Jackson Browne  - Hold Out
ARS - Champagne Jam- VG+ and SQ was way better than I remember
@slaw agreed on the MFSL Katy Lied, it sounds flat to me, but it does actually sound better to me after a good US cleaning. I would tell anyone to find a first pressing instead of the MFSL copy.

Beatles  - Sgt Pepper  - early stereo  - VG
Beatles  - Abby Road  - early stereo  - G
ASIA  -  S/T  M original  - made my hair grow into a mullet
Joe Satriani  - Surfing with the Aliens - grew the mullet more
Ha,  @slaw I played two RL copies of Gaucho back to back after they came out of the US to see which one I should keep.
Have an original Mofi copy of Katy Lied rolling at the moment and it is improved after the US.
I have cleaned about 75 albums today and listened to much of many of them to hear the results, going so hard at it I haven't posted any of it
@slaw  sorry for slow response, took a break to have dinner with the Mrs.
Sent you a message, I will check to see if I have one from you
@slaw shoot, I don't have Premium access so I guess it has been a while since I sent a PM from the forum? I can't send a PM to you

Talking Heads  - Speaking in Tongues  - OP,  totally awesome , NM
XTC  - English Settlement  - OP  EX+
Oh, and I have an original MFSL copy of TotT, it is M, I got it from my buddy Matt that has one of the biggest, if not the biggest,  Genesis/Gabriel/ Collins.... collections in the world. I will check and see if he has an extra UK or US pressing, he had an extra MFSL copy and he has at least one of every OP from every country that released one. I bet a UK OP sounds better than the Mofi
Thanks @slaw  one step at time. But I see why you are so convinced.
I got the same 1.6L unit that is linked from the CleanerVinyl site that everyone recommends but I did the Vinyl Stack system, which I am liking a lot but I wish I had done the unit that does 4 at a time instead of three.
I don't want to soil this thread with cleaning discussion so I will send you a PM to understand your 'presteaming' treatment a little better

U2- The Unforgettable Fire  - OP now VG+
Sade  - Promise  - OP  EX
Kraftwerk  - Trans  Europe Exp  - OP  - NM
Howdy @slaw , I like that choice of Trick of the Tale,  love that record
Bit the bullet and got an US setup, the results are impressive so far

Dire Straits  -  Love over Gold  - OP
REM  - Life's Rich Pageant - Mofi - very very good after ultrasonic cleaning

Derek and the Dominoes- Layla- went from G to VG+ after the US cleaning

Fleetwood Mac - Rumors  - Analogue Productions 200g 45rpm, excellent, excellent

Paul Simon  - There Goes Rhymin Simon  - AP 200g 33rpm,  so great, EX++
Miles Davis  - Four and More  - Mofi
Thelonious Monk and Coltrane -at Carnegie Hall  - excellent!
@slaw that makes sense. If I had the AP 200g version I could have passed on it but this copy is Awesome, Lenny is a standout, not only one of his best songs but it sounds phenomenal and the staging has him in the room with you. I sure miss that guy, I likely saw him a dozen and a half times and even when he was struggling with demons he was always great
How is that Classic PG you are spinning? Those records have gone crazy expensive
Muddy Waters  - Folk Singer  - Analogue Productions 200g 33rpm,  outstanding in every way
Stevie Ray Vaughn  - Texas Flood  - My Mofi One Step arrived today, heavenly, the vocals are phenomenal, dead quiet vinyl, flat, all the things one would expect out of a silly expensive record
Bad Mutha Goose  - Jump the Funk EP - surprisingly good sonically

Beastie Boys  - Paul's Boutique  - reissue,  EXCELLENT. SQ, Vinyl quality, EX+
Bad Mutha Goose  - S/T  - we used to go see these folks live all the time, they were great live
Cannonball Adderley and Milt Jackson  - Things Are Getting Better  - I dig it
@slaw they are, but NB may be the best of his from a recording standpoint. He has a new one out next week. He is here at SXSW playing multiple sets but I am missing them all. Been a couple of years since I last saw him. He is amazing live.

Elliott Smith - Either/Or
Yaz  - You And Me Both  - for my sister who joined me 3 records ago
Andrew Bird  - Noble Beast  - such a fantastic record and it is extremely well recorded
The Beatles  - A Hard  Day's Night  - Mono reissue
Flaming Lips  - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots  - EX
Hey  @slaw  the SRX is a limited run vinyl  and MM has done a release of a bunch of Rudy Van Gelder recorded Blue Note titles. The vinyl is translucent so I believe it is JVC Super Vinyl and they are all done from the master tapes. I have 2 of the 12, a local buddy told me about them and I have to say the SQ is stunning. Would like all 12

Pink Floyd  - Dark Side of the Moon  - first gen pressing
Hello folks, lots going on lately and not enough listening

Started with:
Lou Donaldson  - Blues Walk  - Music Matters SRX vinyl,  incredible, the drums (Congo and kit) are right in the room
Boston  - S/T reissue on blue vinyl , very good
Kenny Dorham  - Quiet Kenny  - Analogue Productions 200g 33rpm, awesome, perfect?
The Psychedelic Furs  - Talk Talk Talk  - almost mint OP, excellent
Chet Baker - Chet Baker Quartet- Sam Records
@slaw the Lamb version is the latest Deluxe edition from Classic Albums that is half speed mastered, 180g, and uses a mix by Nick Davis from 2008. It is really phenomenal, impeccable SQ, great sound stage, quiet vinyl, but this copy has the same issue as my last copy of the same reissue. Closing out side two there is an annoying flaw on the album that comes up as grove noise on about the last minute of the track (Chamber of 32 Doors, of which the low end is EPIC!). Must be a stamper issue, otherwise it is the best sounding copy of the Lamb I have ever heard including OP.

Elton John  - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road  - Bob Ludwig reissue, EX+
Horace Silver Quintet  - Song For My Father  -
Music Matters SRX vinyl, holy ##$^$%! That is a phenomenal record

Genesis - Land Lies Down on Broadway  - SQ-EX+ crazy great low end

Beck -  Sea Change - not sure if this one or Morning Phase is his best sounding album, they are both incredible

@slaw you just need the right record and it will all fall into place
Old 97's - Too Far to Care  - another Insound purchase, not warped but cut slightly off center.
This is such a great record and the first time I have ever heard it on vinyl. Transposes very well to vinyl and the vinyl quality is very good. Great and clever song writing, great arrangements, and they were killer to see live during this period. Been a while since I have seen them live but I bet they still put their heart and soul into their shows
@slaw apologies for the silence, got food poisoning on Sunday at lunch and it kicked my butt for a couple of days.

My comment on the 'sounds like a bootleg' was mainly that it sounds like, because it is, a board recording of a live show. It is not heavily, if at all, 'produced'. The sound is not cleaned up or mixed, just a bit 'raw' and if you listen over time the sound somewhat 'improves' over the course of some of the songs, which is typical as the soundman running the board is doing his job. It definitely comes across as a true depiction of a live show. I saw several legs of that tour as I was entirely fascinated with Trace and likely listened to that record 500 to 600 times the year it came out. Maybe more? As much as I love the first three records I can't claim that SV was overly great to see live as every member was an introvert and the sound was never exceptional. But I loved it anyway.
My main experience with bootlegs is Zep and Genesis and while I think the SQ is far superior on this record they all have a 'raw' quality to them compared to a studio mixed live recording. You know what I mean?
I had the same concert as a bootleg that Neil Young put out as 'Live at Massey Hall' a few years back and the difference between the two makes them sound like entirely different concerts. Totally different.

Bad Company  - Bad Company  - reissue from Insound purchase, not warped!, and the SQ is very good, vinyl quality is way above avg
Milt Jackson and Coleman Hawkins  - Bean Bags,  great recording and thoroughly enjoying
Phil Collins  - No Jacket Required  - been a long time since I have listened to this one, great record and well recorded. Very 80s sound
@slaw everything I have been playing the last couple of listening sessions have been the records I just got on their last 60% off sale. Some good records but unfortunately most of them have had various degrees of warping

Junior Brown  - Guit With It  - really good SQ, I have listened to this album a bunch but on CD, not sure I expected it to sound so good and it had only a very slight warp
Thanks, Boxer
I will stream a bit and look for them at Waterloo Records next time I am in.

Ben Webster  - Gone With The Wind  - white vinyl,  SQ is very, very good but unfortunately this is the second title (third LP) from Insound that just arrived that is warped  :(
@slaw I saw that SV is coming out with a new one soon. I need to give it a spin. I got mad at Jay when he totally changed the band after Wide Swing. Eric Heywood’s solo on Hanging Blue Side makes the hair on my neck and arms stand up every time, it is AWESOME. and I love his work on the first two records as well. I just never could figure out why he would have split up a band that good. The Boquist bros are awesome.

@tomic601 there are a lot of Son Volt fans on this forum. Trace is one of my favorite collection of songs of all time. Thanks for jumping in.

Tonight-
Rest of this Son Volt live, it sounds more like a bootleg, side 1 is pretty rough (SQ) and unfortunately the record is a bit warped
Thanks to @reubent I arrived home from a business trip to a stack of new vinyl from insound. 11 new records for 90 something bucks, not too bad. Kinda late so I only got to try one side so I put on side 2 of

Son Volt  - Live at the Bottom Line

Interesting mix, kinda missing bottom end but good SQ. Odd, they don't list Eric Heywood,  the pedal steel player from the Jayhawks, who played on the first 3 Son Volt  records on the credits but he is definitely on this live show. I saw two shows from this tour and he played both but I wonder why he got left out. This is the SV lineup I liked the most.

@reubent thanks again for the heads up on insound!
Lots of opinions on Floyd, good that nobody is wrong. But Dark Side is by far the best, Animals was more palatable as a teenager and didn't age as well as the others to me, love The Wall and incredible sonics. I couldn't follow as much when they split. Stayed mad at Waters for years (same with Byrne for breaking up the THeads) but I got over most of it.

Surprised at some of the folks having an issue with the AP 200g, I freaking love the stuff. Dead flat, very quiet, phenomenal SQ. Zero quality issues out of maybe 65 titles of 200g 33 and 45. No warping at all is
I do have some vintage Mofi that is not anything special. My OP of Katy Lied is better than my NM vintage Mofi copy. The Mofi version is flat sounding. But I have some that I really like.
