Steely Dan - Can't Buy a Thrill, Katy Lied, The Royal Scam

RIP Walter Becker
@tomic601  - I agree - "Diesel and Dust" is a fave. For some reason, I never bought the LP back in the day. Just picked it up used at my LRS in 2019. Love it. Fantastic, start to finish.

Listening to "Blue Sky Mine" now......
@slaw - I love "Brother Where You Bound". I've owned it for years, love the performance and the sound quality. It's my favorite Supertramp album, by a good margin. However, I played the 12" 45rpm direct-to-disk of "Cannonball" immediately before playing the full album. After playing the 45 DtD, the album actually sounded flat and slow. I don't really think that is a knock on the album. I think it is praise for the 12" 45 rpm DtD single.
Just got my Vandersteen model 3's put back together. First record on the TT as a test - Donald Fagen - "The Nightfly"
Jame McMurtry and the Heartless Bastards -"Live in Aught-Three" - Great Stuff........
Steve Winwood is on the bill with Steely Dan (Fagen) for a summer concert tour. I saw the same tour 2-3 years ago (with Becker that time) and it was fantastic. Winwood's set was fantastic. Hope to see the show again this summer, if concert season even happens.... :~(

@listening99  Welcome to the "What's on Your Turntable Tonight?" thread. Keep 'em coming....
Got a nice shipment from ImportCDs today. Bought these on the ImportCD store on eBay. $20% off the entire order over $65, so I had to be sure to go over........

Matthew Sweet - "Girlfriend" MOV
Ned's Atomic Dustbin - "God Fodder" MOV
Gare du Nord - "Rendezvous 8:02" MOV Blue Vinyl
Neutral Milk Hotel - "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" Merge Records

@uberwaltz  - I know! How cool am I......... Wait, don't answer that...... ;~)
@mammothguy54

Enjoy "Brother Where You Bound" this evening. I'm going to play the D to D 45 later myself. Then I might play the album too.

It is my favorite Supertramp album by a good margin. Plus it is really well recorded.

Tagging is an intermittent feature for me here on the ol' A-goN. Works sometimes (a slight majority of the time) and doesn't work sometimes.
@slaw - Love The Jayhawks. Have you heard The Jayhawks - "Live from the Women's Club Vol. 1-2"? Really awesome, stripped-down sound. Excellent stuff.....
My son was in the basement listening room playing video games this evening. When his time was over, I asked him what he wanted to hear. He said "None of the Above". So I put on The Bears "S/T" - opening track - "None of the Above". He thinks I have a song for everything......

Tonight:

The Bears - "S/T"
Dave Brubeck Quartet - "Time Out"
Rush - Permanent Waves"
Gare du Nord - "Rendezvous 8:02" MOV Blue Vinyl

First time hearing it. I like it!
John Prine - "For Better, or Worse"  I love John Prine. I've got tickets to see him again in March. However, I don't love this album of duets. There are a lot of fine female singers on the record, however they just don't sound right accompanying JP on this recording. Anyone else heard it? Thoughts?
@bdp24 - Thanks for the reply. I believe you are onto something regarding trying match the timing/phrasing of John Prine. Just can't do it. But in addition to that, the female vocals on this record almost sound like they were recorded differently from Prine's. Very distracting to me.....

It would be great if Iris shows up in March. She's a great talent.
@tomic601  - Thanks. All safe here. Storms have passed, no local damage. All good.....
Hey Slaw! I'm not familiar with Pieta Brown, so I googled her. Yep, she's the daughter of Greg Brown, but no mention of Iris. I'll have to check out her stuff.
Was record store day for me. Just back from Plaid Room Records with the following:

Chip Taylor - "This Side of the Big River"
The Beatles - "Revolver"
Hot Tuna - "HOPPKORV"
Pete Townshend - "Empty Glass"
Bob Dylan - "Slow Train Coming"
Genesis - "And Then There Were Three"
Shovels and Rope - "Swimming' Time"
Lucinda Williams - "Little Honey" (new)
Marty Stuart - "Way Out West" (new)

I hope to get to all of them tonight or over the weekend......
Neutral Milk Hotel - "In the Aeroplane, Over the Sea"

In the storm shelter/basement with my family, for tornado warnings, playing this album that was recommended to me by my 16 year old son. Good times, good times........
@slaw - Funny you should mention the noise on "Little Honey". I pulled mine from the used bin at my LRS, but when I pulled it out of the outer sleeve, the record was still in sealed plastic wrap. I cleaned it before playing. I only have a Spin-Clean as I'm not too bothered by minor clicks/pops and a little noise. However, I did find the noise level on "Little Honey" to be pretty high, especially for a new, never played, record. Love the music as I'm a huge fan of Lucinda and Buick 6. But I'm disappointed with the noise level.
@spiritofradio  - We get tornado warnings, or severe thunderstorm warnings fairly often here in Cincinnati. They are more common now as National Weather Service has very good Doppler radar and automated warning systems. Usually the warnings come and go quickly as the storm front passes through. Last night the warning was lifted after only about 15 minutes.
@bob540  - Hey Bob! Welcome to the "What's on your Turntable Tonight?" thread. So, what is your new turntable? And keep 'em coming.........
The Beatles - "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" 50th Anniversary Edition

Can't say this is my favorite album, not even my favorite Beatles album. However, I can say it sounds fantastic, especially "Within You Without You".
@stevecham - Steve, How's the Beck record? I've been thinking about picking it up. I saw Beck open for U2 a few days before the record was released. He and his band Killed It!
