@uberwaltz

yes, I saw that post earlier 😉

@slaw

I appreciate and respect your opinion as a user. I’ve meant to message you about this subject, but as you brought it up..... There are times I can buy on ‘informed impulse’, and my next TT choice needs more time in order not to make a ‘mistake’ I may regret. I don’t regret the Pro-Ject decision as it has done exactly what I wanted it to do; figure out if vinyl was going to be back in my future plans. Heck, who knows, it could become a mono table in the future.

I’m in no rush....famous last words....and then *poof* I have a new piece of equipment being sent to me and hoping for the best ;-)

Pierre Bartholomée conducts Schubert - Symphonie Nr.10 D Dur. Orchestre Philharmonique De Liège. Ricercar 1984, Belgium release

Lorin Maazel conducts Sibelius - The Seven Symphonies
The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra
DECCA 4 LP box 1972

@noromance

That Beecham Scheherazade LP is pretty darn good. First time I listened to it as I had not mounted my mono cart in a while. Good stuff.

Szell conducts Bruckner - Symphony #3. The Cleveland Orchestra. Columbia Masterworks ‘2 eye’, 1966.

Not a Bruckner fan, but keep trying. Szell could help make me a believer.

Bruno Walter conducting Beethoven’s 3rd, ‘Eroica’. Columbia Symphony Orchestra. Columbia Masterworks 1959

Really nice recording and performance

Mono
BTW, saw the Avid on your systems page. Very nice!

Just took a peek. Very nice @uberwaltz , but it took ‘top shelf’ over the Garrard?
No doubt. This is quite the little group we have here. Thanks to @slaw and @tomic601 and soon to be arriving cassettes from @uberwaltz my collection is becoming fuller and better thanks to you. And always nice when coming from friends.
@tomic601

U r welcome Brian - I saw the condition of the cover and my heart sank - fortunate they playgrade much better !!!

It plays a little rough in areas, but I don’t have a Reiner Beethoven 9th in my collection, until now. So, much appreciated regardless. Will try to see what I can do to clean it up further.

The Bizet looks to be in fantastic shape though, and will be going on next.
Carl Schuricht conducts Bruckner Symphony No 8. Vienna Philharmonic. Angel 2 LP box set. 1964

Mono.

Fantastic recording.
Ives Symphony #4. Jose Serebrier Conducting the London Philharmonic. RCA Red Seal 1974

Ray Brown - Soular Energy

Jim, that is one of my all-time favorite albums. Ray is incredible on that one. But then, he always is. Have gotten to see him a couple times, and it was a real treat.
Pierre Boulez Conducts Arnold Schoenberg - A Survivor From Warsaw, Op. 46, Variations For Orchestra, Op. 31, Five Pieces For Orchestra, Op. 16, Accompaniment To A Cinematographic Scene, Op. 34. B.B.C. Symphony Orchestra. CBS Masterworks 1978
Szell conducts Mozart Piano Concertos No. 15 In B-Flat Major / No. 17 In G Major. The Cleveland Orchestra w/Casadesus, piano. Columbia Masterworks 1969
Arrived today….

Mingus Ah Um. Columbia/MOV repress 2015.

Really really good. Happy with it.
Michael Ponti plays Scriabin Sonatas. Box set of 12 sonatas. Playing Sonata 8, Sonata in E flat minor, and Sonata’s 9 &10. VOX 1972.

Really well recorded piano, which isn’t an easy feat. Thanks @slaw

No Steve, single ended only. Had I went for a new Belles dual mono they would have been (as my pre has balanced out). But, well, think I will be fine. It was a consideration, but didn’t outweigh the others.

Bystrík Režucha conducts Rimsky-Korsakov - Night On Mount Triglav (Symphonic Picture) & Pan Voyevoda (Suite). Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra. Records International 1986

@noromance

@bkeske Good to see you've invested in a bunch of 50/60s vinyl.

Actually, many of the mono LP’s I played over the weekend were purchased from our very own @slaw

Really a nice collection overall he had.
Going to continue with my Szell/Cleveland selections this evening. Next up:

Szell conducts Schumann - The Four Schumann Symphonies. The Cleveland Orchestra. Columbia/Odyssey 3LP box, 1971

In other news, Jim Hagerman emailed me notifying that the Hagerman Trumpet is being shipped today...oh, the wait...trying to be patient
American String Quartet - Dvorak String Quartets in D minor and E flat. Nonesuch 1986
Eero Bister Conducts Uuno Klami - Concerto For Violin And Orchestra & Sea Pictures. Kouvola City Orchestra. Finlandia Records 1983 Finland
@slaw

I’d bet Shitt would incorporate a switch in your current unit if you’d send it back.

I’ll email them. But, I’ve heard they are not quick to respond at times. And, from what I’ve read, anything asked about which they don’t offer in a product is usually answered with ‘well, this is what we felt best’, or something similar. For them to even consider a retrofit may cost more than the $200 unit I spoke of, and it is available now if I want it. Actually, there is one guy selling a used one on eBay right now for very very close to new cost. He is accepting offers though.
@uberwaltz

3" one way and 2" the other and quite a difference in presentation.

3”, 2”? Thats a lot ;-) I use a laser measure, and play occasionally with small adjustments, sometimes out of boredom and curiosity whether I might have missed that perfect location. And heck, I try 1/4” to 1/2” changes, and believe me, I can hear the difference at times. Especially with toe-in, which for my Vandy’s are not much at all, and small adjustments matter. Space apart, and front to back, I might get really crazy and try 1-2” adjustments ;-D

I spent a long lone time figuring out, in general (specifically) what the best overall placement is, but can’t stop myself from tweaking at times. Just to check.
@uberwaltz

I know you think I am reckless at times but jeez.......

just funin with ya Uber. All good. 👍🏼
Szell conducts Bartok - Concerto for Orchestra & Janacek - Sinfonietta. The Cleveland Orchestra. Columbia Masterworks 1966.

Very nice recording and performance.
@uberwaltz

Fantastic man. That was fast! That does look to be a very nice arm.

I am spinning my first LP with the Soundsmith Zephyr installed! Came this afternoon, and of course I couldn’t wait. Wow, it sounds great. I can’t believe how well the whole rig sounds right now. And also installed my new Audio Envy interconnects that came today as well. All need a little time to break-in, but I’m certainly not complaining. A very nice Friday.

And Steve and Jim sent gifts which arrived today. Absolutely awesome.
@uberwaltz

Says he who just had to mount his new cart right away😂😂.

Guilty as charged 😁

Hell, I was tracking the UPS driver all day 😉

I think I can finally relax, sit back, and listen to my music, like the first time. Need to break out the classical, but to check everything out during the process, my old LP’s, which I know so well, seemed a logical choice to hear the difference at each step.

......now for that mono cart......
Mehta conducts Scriabin - Poem Of Ecstasy, Op. 54 & Schönberg- Transfigured Night, Op. 4 (1943 Revised Version). Los Angeles Philharmonic. London 1967
Boulez conducts Berlioz, Symphonie Fantastique, LSO. 1971 Columbia Masterworks.

Szell conducts Wagner, Preludes and Overture, The Cleveland Orchestra. Nice album. 1962 Epic.

Thus far.....
