@Uberwalltz +1 on the Wishbone Ash. |
Actually I should have said Americana it was worse. |
The package is, well, I could say a confusing mess but let’s just call it complicated. I love records generally and specifically. This format though I have to get used to , including how to shelve it and getting out of my chair every 2 songs... anyway, Lots of guitar feedback that sounds pretty good to me. His voice was always kinda shaky so he still sounds like himself. Pretty good really. Haven’t got to it yet but it says one side was recorded early this year here at his/their show in Portland. More to report later. I think it’s sort of curious that this release hasn’t seen more public discussion. Maybe it’s partially shadowed by all those recent reissues. Not sure. Saw it on one best of list but not much elsewhere. While I write this side b? ( Second trip up) is blowing me away. “Help me lose my mind”. I’ll have to report back later but so far this is a highly recommended, as in, it’s about 1000 times better than Oh Susanna

@slaw yeah, sorry I do know that album just never bought it. |
Well, I guess so, I’ve never had a Super Disk of anything. I do have a Shibata now so maybe I should try one. Don’t have that record @slaw is it a “Dregs” release? Will look for it and try it through the dac. |

Rodgers and Hammerstein The Sound of Music OSR MOV reissue
More depth and perfect noiseless vinyl. Christmas present for my likes to sing along wife.

@slaw cool, and that makes perfect sense. They are excellent musically and I think with the dynamics and diversity of instrumentation they can be a great test and demonstration of your stereo’s winning aspects. |
@reubent @tomic601 yeah I came to be a fan of D Dregs backwards from a later S Morse guitar hero admiration phase. I don’t think I knew a soul in school who had their records. Listening to them now is both fun and musically challenging, I mean the musicianship is fantastic and the blending of styles makes one have to do double takes but it’s fun tunes and sounds at the same time. They are a pretty unique phenomenon. You could come at it from the Allman brothers or from joe satriani. |

Caitlin Canty Motel Bouquet
comin’ to town in duo with her husband Noam next spring. Got us tickets in a rush. |
The above is to me as spartan and sparse as an early Dylan album only better sounding. Uh huh, needs a redux on deep dark black vinyl.

@tomic601 yeah, that herbie Hancock record sounds really good. Well produced I think. Puts me in mind of my old sonny Rollins records that sound so good. And, I guess I’m sort of on a compilation kick. Must be part of the accumulation of dust in the head end of year. |
I’m afraid today It’s going to be all her Christmas music on the streamer. But she’s in there baking while listening to it so it’s all good.
Want to say gentlemen that I’ve been in an extraordinarily open minded mood lately listening to pop stuff that I normally don’t even consider. And so found this Corinne Bailey Rae as reward. Beautiful. And she sings pretty good too... |

Alas, not on vinyl. Was streaming their Christmas album (good) for my wife then had to check this out again and in full. Kind of a commercial enterprise I suspect ( they've clearly done careful study of Nickel Creek tricks) but so much fun. |
This album is sparking joy. Exceptionally talented kids just out of the conservatory playing string band versions of songs of our youth (their parents records as source perhaps, or maybe some smart producer put em up to it...) who cares it’s delightful. May be blasphemy to some who cherish the originals, not me, I never really liked pop music but for some reason this is working. Quite well. |

For fans of early hard rock and/or Tommy Bolin this is tremendous stuff. For me, well, it’s an absolute favorite. |
