@tomic601 you’re probably already aware, I’ve heard that Soundsmith will work over and upgrade the table in addition to providing carts for those old B&O design award turntables.  Makes them very respectable....

Because it’s just beautiful and needful just now.

This and a couple others of theirs really need a vinyl press.  Seems like there would be a large number of the nostalgic that would buy them.
Sally’s voice is so pure and good.
@reubent that’s interesting and yes explains a lot.  Definitely different room & mikes then on at least one track.   It does have presence and probably was difficult to mix for maximum imaging, etc.  better than I remember though.  It’s staying out in rotation (help make for nice romantic evenings watching the stereo).
@reubent  Jackrabbit Slim sounds sweeter than I remember.  The production might seem a little uneven but man this music is moving.

@reubent did you get the 2019 red reissue?
Been years.  This is so sweet.  Thanks for the reminder dude.
@tomic601   Analogue to Digital...?
Glad I’m not the only one to be disappointed with Capaldi...  Dave Mason (one of my most played favorites) has showed him a lot of loyalty over the years but I never got it.
@tomic601   tried earlier/ a few times/ to post my thanks to you for the offer of the Ramones album.  Not my thing but very generous of you.  Thanks.
@tomic601  you mean the 17th ward record?  Great sounding isn’t it!  The strings are incredible too.  I’ll play it again after the game so I can remind myself what you’re getting at.  A to D?
Streaming Agnes Obel - “Citizen of Glass“

Incredible sound.
Thanks for the idea @tomic601
@tomic601 the pearl is good. If I don’t catch you first in Seattle.

Item/band to watch for:

Bonny Light Horseman

americana, beautiful female (and male) vocalist, absolutely beautiful sounding production, wonderful sensibility, somewhat original but one of these bands that learned a few things from fleet foxes and Bon over and are all the better for it I think.
Not on vinyl yet.  Concerts sold out around here.  You’ll see.

Sadder still to watch it die
Than never to have known it

@slaw ‘welcome

@elliott so cool that you put together a mono setup.  Sounds really fun and that’s a lot of what it’s about.
So, did you set it up on a separate deck or do have one of those super cool tables that can work 2 arms?

@16f4 all the best with the move bro.  That can be stressful if you let it get that way.  We don’t know each other much but I feel for you. I also had to go through a major move and life change not too long ago.  Even had to sell my boat....
But not my records yet anyway.  That must hurt.  You have so much unique stuff.  All the best, really.

@tomic601 here’s a trick I pulled on my young wife this last weekend; Put on ‘Fool in the Rain’ off “In through the out door” and asked her to guess who it was (before the vocal came in & after).  She was incredulous.  Got her to be at least a little more open to that band.
@tomic601 yes sir!  It’s different than other harmony groups I think, in that their three voices and styles are quite different.  They don’t blend into one the way, for example, the Jennys do.  It’s different and interesting and I think kinda genius: the sound that fills the room with the acoustic goodness of their individual voices. I think the way it’s miked contributes to the effect too.
Makes me wonder if Amanda Shires hadn’t heard it and helped give her the idea to engender the Highwomen project.  Song selection has some similarities too.  Isn’t that REM cover nice?

one microphone, all analogue, true, legit, where it’s at for me baby.
Know how much you appreciate a sweet female vocal and high sq records you owe it to yourself to check out this Chesky Binaural recording.  Strings on it are quite nice too.

Funny Tomic.   No judgement here.  It’s been my strange experience in life to have friends who need to partake before they come over so they can keep up/be on level with my natural high....
@14point1 - Welcome!

@noromance - such an interesting playlist.  You must have an jaw dropping cool record collection.
@bdp24  thanks for the great info let’s stay in touch about that release/issue.  I really like the Band and some of RRs stuff.  Admire your truly committed interest.
@bdp24 thanks for the info on the “remixed” brown album.  Have you played it yet?  How does it sound?
I saw that Band release at the record store yesterday and thought pretty hard about buying it.  Would also like to hear about it.
Funny, I really never used recreational drugs. Maybe I missed out on more revelation and transcendence than I’ve had without but I tend to think that for me in the long run it’s been for the best.
This music, from the times when most of my friends and I let the music saturate, inform, and reflect our lives in ways long over now, is transporting and affirming and well so much more than, as they say, the soundtrack of our lives. It’s just important.

Hey Bro. Music can still do incredible things to my heart. It doesn’t just put me back to a long time gone place and time (at the stadium, in the dorm room, in the roadster parked along the Santa Barbara Surf...) but pulls back very real but hidden feelings connected to those moments. Oh man, who needs drugs when you have an 834p and a pair of ZMF headphones.
We drink in our west coast country rock as if it’s nuances and nostalgic emblems were Chopin’s phrases.

@dgarretson  I know exactly what you mean.  I often find that I must strive to prevent this kind of thing from spoiling the pleasures of experiencing newer music.
