Brian(s), You guys may enjoy this band. They definitely have a 70's hippy vibe going on. Hey, I resemble that remark 😁 I’ll check them out. Hope you had a good ride. |

I believe I have most all these either separately or in other box sets. But, it’s been sitting in the rack being neglected, so I’ll begin taking them for a spin collectively.

@big_greg seeing Madeleine Peyroux
Wow, that should be a real treat. |
@spiritofradio The Gene Harris Quartet Listen Here! Did you just get this on vinyl James? |
good on ya @spiritofradio
I was able to see Gene in a smaller dinner club back in the 80’s. Great time. McCoy Tyner at the same place once. Another great experience there.....in addition to Ray Brown, Milt Jackson, Herb Ellis, Wynton, Monty Alexander, Joe Henderson, and I could go on.
When I lived in Columbus, a city councilman, who I knew personally, opened up a jazz dinner club in the ’Short North’ area of town. I was always amazed by the acts he brought in, and took advantage of it for a couple/few years. Unfortunately if finally closed, but I was lucky to see some of the greats in a very cozy setting. It was awesome. |
Members of The Vienna Octet : Britten - Sinfonietta, Op. 1 & Hindemith - Octet (1957–58). London Records 1976 reissue. Originally 1965.

@spiritofradio
Very cool regarding living in the Village, and having places like the Blue Note to visit. My cousin lived in lower Manhattan for years (close to the Village), but every time I visited we hung out at his loft, in his immediate neighborhood, or a close-by eatery. Wish I would have thought about making a point in visiting some of those clubs back then. Oh well. ‘Serious’ jazz clubs are not easy to find. |
Kyndel-kvartetten : Stenhammar - String Quartet No. 2, Op. 14 & Lidholm - Music For Strings (1952). Sveriges Radio 1967 Swedish release
|
Amadeus-Quartett : Schubert - String Quartet In G Major. Deutsche Grammophon reissue 1974. Originally 1965. Australian release
Thanks Brian. Like Steve, unfortunately my mother is going through some serious health issues at the moment, thus, it’s been tough finding time to relax with my music. Thankfully this is one of those nights. Needed. |

Aeolian String Quartet : Haydn - Haydn String Quartets Volume Eight, Op.3 & Seven Last Words. London Records 3LP box, 1979

@big_greg Brian, Paula Cole stole the show in my opinion. As much as I love Madeleine Peyroux's recordings, she was a little "meh" as a performer. Wow, that is too bad. I also have a couple of her ‘albums’ on CD and really enjoy them. But, good for Paula, and glad you enjoyed some live music. Taking a break and streaming the Berlin Philharmonic live on the Digital Concert Hall. Nice program today. |
Amadeus-Quartett : Beethoven String Quartets Op. 127‧130‧131‧132‧133‧135. Deutsche Grammophon 4LP box 1963 German release.
Wonderful recordings in this set. I will have to consider the other sets in the series.

As I knew yesterday my day would be highly taken-over by football, so in the morning I went out and purchased a Debrox Earwax Removal Kit (pretty inexpensive, there are more expensive kits).
For some time now I’ve been curious and interested in seeing what effect something like this would have, as I have never had it done by a Doctor. So, I did a long sitting in each ear (about 45 minutes) before flushing, then two additional for smaller time periods.
I didn’t sense I had any issues before doing so, but what the heck, nothing lost in giving my ears a good cleaning internally. Cannot sense any great improvement, and wasn’t expecting that really, but it did feel ‘refreshing’, and perhaps a bit more clear. Even to a small degree.
I believe I’ll start to do this every three months or so, certainly cannot hurt.
Anyone else do this regiment on a regular basis?

contact cleaner, colored fuses, stones, Shaki sticks…and now ear cleaning kits….. 😁 Maybe I need several boxes stored in various places in my room. |
@noromance Isaac Stern 60th Anniversary Celebration A very enjoyable album. |
Steve,
That is what the Debrox product is, an inexpensive bulb with its own solution. But, I'm sure I could also create my own solution with peroxide and water.
As we pay so much attention to all the miscellaneous details of our systems, seems silly not to make our own ears one of those items to get some attention and maintenance as well.
I also use q-tips after every shower, but have read that q-tips can also create problems, and cannot really get to the inner canal/ear drum itself, nor would you want them to do so.
