My current vinyl dilemma - What to do with new records I received as gifts that have have defects? Got a couple for Christmas that have SQ defects. Multiple trips through the Spin-Clean and US RCM and still ticks on each record rotation. Luckily, none warped in this batch.

I wonder what is the return rate of new vinyl these days?

Ned's Atomic Dustbin - "Are You Normal"

Music on Vinyl. Way better SQ than the original CD.

@bslon - Hey Bill. I think the record was ordered through Amazon as it was on my wishlist there. Think I'll ask for an exchange. It's not a terrible defect, but a regular tick on each revolution, all the way through the first track on both sides. Can only really hear it in the more quiet passages, but annoying enough to distract from the experience. Shouldn't happen on a new record, fresh out of sealed shrink...

@slaw  - Steve, I have had pretty good luck until recently, and my standards were probably not as high as yours and some other folks. I could tolerate a bit of noise. But some of the one's I've gotten recently had obvious defects in the vinyl. I think I'm going to start returning those from now forward.

Supertramp "Brother Where You Bound"

Steve, You know I love that album! Fantastic album and really good sound. Yep, would love to hear it given the full audiophile treatment...

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band - "The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts"

Supertramp - "Brother Where You Bound"

My current reference record for testing my LP playback chain.

David Gray - "Mutineers"

Simply wonderful. Saw him on this tour. Fantastic!

@mofimadness  - Do you know the Canadian Band - The Trews? Saw them open for dada a few years ago and they could really bring it live. Hit or miss on their studio recordings, but they were really good live.

How about Metric? There 2009 album - "Fantasies" is pretty good. I especially like the song - "Blindness".

Happy listening!

Kraftwerk - "Autobahn"

My son is leaving for Germany tomorrow morning. Seems appropriate.
