That actually seems like a very good deal for a ‘minty’ copy Jim. There are some like the Analogue Productions going for $250, and up.
Jim, I appreciate that consideration. I was just looking, and Discogs does not have a very good selection right now, but did find someone with a NM promo copy on eBay, and he is in Cleveland. He’s taking offers from his asking price of $150. Might be worth a message and local offer to him.
Just arrived….

Bkeske,
Thanks for recommending the Jerry Garcia Band performance (on YouTube) from 1990! Absolutely a joy to watch that.

Glad you watched and enjoyed it. I received the CD set early this week (have had the cassette version for years now).

I just cannot get over how well Jerry played, and performed overall, during that concert. Amazing. He was having a lot of fun, you could tell.

If a Jerry fan, a must watch IMO.
Holy smokes, it’s been a busy week. 8:00 here, and just finishing work. And have not spun any vinyl for three days. But…..that is finally going to change…just came in the mail today:

@tgilb

yes, thank you. That was quite a surprise when opening my email Saturday morning, looking over my Audiogon emails, and seeing my modest system featured.

Jim @tomic601 is also a Vandy fan. He has my 2CE Sigs beat by a mile 😁 But I still love them. In fact, listening last night, I was wondering why everyone doesn’t own Vandersteen’s they sounded so good.
Szell conducts Mendelssohn - Incidental Music To "A Midsummer Night's Dream," Op. 61 & Schubert - Incidental Music To "Rosamunde". The Cleveland Orchestra. Columbia Masterworks reissue, guessing early 70’s. Originally 1967
@tgilb

Jim has the 7’s and Vandy amps….in one of his systems. Check out his systems page. Quite impressive.
@tomic601

Thanks Jim, I'm sure my system was chosen at random, but appreciate it. No doubt my system has been growing quickly, particularly the vinyl front end.

Brian, bummer news but glad your speakers are okay. About your old amp I mean.

Absolutely Bill. The main fuse blew, didn’t effect the speaker terminal’s or their fuses.

Back to music. My cherished vintage Belles 400A amp ‘blew-up’ (well, more like a pop, flash, along with a burning smell) on me last week, so had to get an emergency amp in until something more permanent is chosen.

Steve, I watched an interested review of the 50th release on YouTube. This person, and I typically trust his opinions, stated that these ‘ex Beatles’ releases are very tough to remix as Apple will not release the origional tapes to anyone. Ever. Thus, it is very limited to what can be done. Now, I personally don’t think that is all bad, as good or bad, the origional should have merit. Of course that assumes the artist, George in this case, agreed with the overall sound released originally.

I have the original, and enjoy it. At times though, I think the Spector ‘wall of sound’ is just too much at times. It’s simply too ‘blurred’ and dense. It’s interesting that these guys maintained that late Spector relationship after the Beatles broke-up.
One thing is is for certain Steve, it’s a beautiful set in its presentation and packaging.

I am tempted

@slaw

I will Steve. I just received a B&K ST3030 200 wpc mosfet amp for a pretty good deal. It actually sounds pretty darn good. Better than the 400A in some respects. The B&K’s are real ‘sleepers’ IMO. Had a 125.2 before, so figured it would be acceptable, or more so. No matter what, the ST3030 will be a back-up in the future.

Yea, I was intrigued, so for the $, tried it out. Amazon delivered in two days (don’t have Prime).

When are you leaving on your fishing trip Joel?
Interesting Steve.

I saw an interesting idea here, which seems to catching some traction: purchased an inexpensive rechargeable gel lighter. It gives out ions, similar to the Zerostat. You ‘light’ it just about 1/4-1/2” above the album while rotating, 3-4 passes, and it removes static.

Seems to work. And much easier and quicker than the Zerostat.

Playing with it, but as I said, does seem to be effective.
