@big_greg  - I love "King of America". It's in my top 3 favorite EC albums. BTW, saw EC last Saturday. The show was a bit of a letdown :~(
@spiritofradio  @big_greg  - Regarding KOM

These three songs are pure magic IMHO

"Brilliant Mistake"
"Indoor Fireworks"
"I'll Wear it Proudly"

The Trifecta!
Rare Earth - "Rare Earth in Concert"

The Original Backpack Edition. Still cool, 50 years later...
@spiritofradio  - I do like  Lucero. If you like Lucero, you may like - American Aquarium. I don't have it on vinyl, but check this one out....

American Aquarium - "Before the Dogwood Blooms"

@big_greg  - I saw The Tubes last night. Great show, especially considering Fee Waybill is 70 years old and still plays the character - Quay Lewd and singing "Mondo Bondage" wearing  A$$less leather chaps. Truly a fun rock and roll show...

For vinyl lovers and fans of The Tubes, their live album - "What Do You Want From Live?" is one of my favorite live albums ever! So much fun. Great musicians, on top of their game in 1979...
@slaw  - How is the American Aquarium album? I've only heard a couple of their songs, and liked them quite a bit.
@big_greg  - Oh, it was disturbing! But in a really funny way. Great show, and a fun spoof on the excesses of shock rock bands...
Blue Oyster Cult - "On Your Feet Or on Your Knees" - Live

Side 3
"Then Came the Last Days of May"  - My favorite BOC Song
"Cities on Flame"
"ME 262"
Well guys, I fell onto the new turntable train today, and thought I would post this since so many of you guys are sporting new TTs. My case is a bit different. Wasn't really looking for a TT, especially a DD DJ type table. But one showed up on CL today that I could not pass up.

I bought a "used once" Pioneer PLX-1000 w/Ortofon Concorde mkII Mix Cartridge and a Fluance PA-10 phono pre-amp. It's in "used once" condition, essentially new, purchased a couple of months ago for a one evening event. Bought it from a nice young couple about 10 miles from my house.

For a few years I've been thinking it would be nice to have a TT in my second system and also have one that was robust, that I could take out of the house to my local listening party. Didn't want anything too expensive. I have also read multiple great reviews of the Pioneer PLX-1000. When this one popped up, with all the accessories, for only $350, I jumped on it.

Hopefully I can give it a spin tonight to see how it stacks up against the Pro-Ject Carbon Debut Esprit SB w/Ortofon 2M Blue. Not expecting much with the Concorde MkII Mix cartridge, but who knows? It may surprise me...
@j_husker  @spiritofradio  @bkeske  @slaw

Thanks guys for the congrats/comments on the new TT. I look forward to fitting a new cartridge and giving it a go.

I played it this evening with the Ortofon Concorde mkII Mix cartridge. It's not bad, but not up to audiophile standards... yet!

@tomic601

they are way tighter band than I remember....

The Tubes never received their due for musicianship. I think their playing was overshadowed by their antics. However, they were, and still are, a group of great musicians.

@slaw  - Hey Steve! How's the new Courtney record? Was thinking about picking up a copy...

@slaw

I am actually disappointed in Courtney’s latest.

Thanks for the response. I'll stream it first before making a decision. Would be unhappy to waste $25, and precious shelf space, if it's not good.

@slaw @spiritofradio

I love Andy Pratt's - "Avenging Annie", which was a minor hit back when it came out. Man, I really love that tune...

@sourpuss123

World Party / Goodbye Jumbo

+1  I think that one's in my top 10. Great album...

@slaw  - Interesting. I just heard a door slam that I've never heard while cranking "20th Century Man" from The Kinks - "One For The Road". I think I also heard "turn it down" right before the door slam...

@puffball08  - In early 1983, I saw a 16 year old Annabella Lwin with Bow Wow Wow at a show in Cleveland, opening for an also very young Red Hot Chili Peppers. Man, what a show! Stuck with me all these years...

@puffball08

Adam Ant was no doubt smiling as the Wows imploded

And probably, deservedly so. But I was completely oblivious to the specifics at the time.
