For you Ry Cooder fans, have you ever hear " Drive Like I Never Been Hurt" from his concept album "I, Flathead"? Unfortunately, I don't believe it is available on vinyl......

Agreed guys. "Last Chance Texaco" is a brilliant song. And from a brilliant album. And the one after that wasn't bad either...

@mammothguy54  - Joel and All, I remember when I first heard "Chuck E.'s in Love" on the radio in 1979 when I was in college. Went out and bought the record and was absolutely blown away. My roommate listened to jazz, and this was some sort of jazz I guessed, but it just struck me differently. Still don't know what genre it is, but that's not important. Anyway, here we are 40+ years later, and I'm still listening to it. I agree, my favorite is "The Last Chance Texaco", but many/any of the other songs on the album could have been my favorite if TLCT was not on the album...

@big_greg

Greg, if you're looking for a place to start you dive into the Budgie catalog, my favorites are "Squawk" and "Bandolier". All of the early stuff is good. I haven't heard any of their stuff newer that 1977's "Impeckable" so I don't know how they aged as a band. Happy Budgie hunting....

Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio - "Live at KEXP"

Genre - "Funky Organ Soul Jazz"

From our friends the Cole Brothers at Plaid Room Records and Colemine Records

Rare Earth - "In Concert"

The "Backpack" is still one of my favorite record jackets of all time. And it just a great live album.

@spiritofradio  - Hey James. That David Hepworth - "Deep 70's" mix has some great songs on it. A couple of my favorites - Andy Pratt - "Avenging Annie" and The Records - "Starry Eyes". I like Joan Armatrading - "Down to Zero" but I really like Bettye Lavette's later take on it. Check it out...

@spiritofradio  - I checked out "Bundles". Pretty good stuff. I think you recommended a different Soft Machine album before, and I didn't really care for it. "Bundles" is definitely more my speed.....

Thanks for thinking of me.
Incredible Bongo Band - "Bongo Rock"

My original copy from 1973. The second record I ever bought.
Iron Butterfly - "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida"

In surprisingly good shape considering the life it's lead since my sister bought it in the late '60's.
Timbuk3 - "Greetings from Timbuk3"

Really fantastic IMHO. Been diggin' it since it was released in 1986.

@arro222 - This is a great thread (IMHO) and I’ve enjoyed it immensely for year now. I believe it is the most popular thread on AudiogoN, currently at 43K+ posts. I’ve become virtual friend with some of the regulars on this thread, and I enjoy the "community". I (we) welcome you, if you choose to participate.

The concept of this thread is simple - "What’s on Your Turntable Tonight?" That question has obviously resonated with many AudiogoN members. Some folks simply reply with what they have on their TT at the time. However, often posters discuss the merits of the recording they are playing. Often you will see responses regarding other's choices, and sometimes you’ll see folks jumping on a particular bandwagon - artist, album, genre or otherwise.

It’s all in good fun, not serious, and open to all. There are lots of regulars here, some newbies and an occasional driveby. You are most welcome the join, as a regular or as an occasional poster. We value your input, especially if it is regarding vinyl you are playing.

Peace Out! Enjoy the Music! And, "What’s on Your Turntable Tonight?"

Pete Townshend - "White City: A Novel"

I love this album. No idea if it is/was popular. I bought it back when it was release in 1985 and it's been in semi-regular rotation ever since. Was fortunate to also find a copy of the 12" 45 RPM Single of "Face the Face - Live From the Deep End". I also have a VHS copy of the short move by the same name. The Live version of "Face the Face" is from the movie.

BTW, the movie is available in two parts on YouTube if anyone is interested...

Pete Townshend - "Face the Face"

12" 45 RPM Single - Live, from the Deep End

The Doors - "Alive She Cried"

Nice NM copied showed up today to replace the poor hand-me-down copy that a buddy gave me. I'm happy he gave me that old copy because listening to it, through all the scratches and grunge, I could tell the SQ was going to be great. It is...........

@tomic601  - Our last "music club night" had an hour-long pop/rock break. One of my selections was "867-5309" by Tommy Tutone. Great memories...

@slaw  - Agreed. A nice copy of  "Alive She Cried" is a pretty great sounding recording compilation of live recordings. The band seemed like they were really on their game at that time. Good stuff.

Why "Thank You" @puffball08  !!

I've had this album for a long time. "English Settlement" was the first CD I ever bought back in 1983-ish. Played it a lot and later bought a nice copy on vinyl. I tried to go CD only for a few years, but just couldn't do it...

@big_greg  -
Budgie - "Bandolier"

Rock On Brother!!!!

"Bandolier" and "Squawk" are my favs.........

Montrose S/T

Just arrived at my front door. Thanks Amazon and Thanks Friday Music! It's a rocker......
James,

My older sister turned me onto Budgie back in the '70's when I was a pre/early teen. I have no idea where she heard them, but she hung out with a bunch of long-haired rocker types, so........
@tomic601 - "Hollywood Town Hall" on vinyl is awesome! One of my favorite albums, and even better on vinyl now that it has finally been released. Great one.......
@mammothguy54  -  The Doobie Brothers 'What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits'

That's a great album. All killer, no filler......
@fiesta75  -  Dada - Puzzle

Excellent album! Do you own it on vinyl? Pretty rare. I've been looking for a copy for 2-3 years.
@slaw - I’m in Boundary Waters. Just getting ready to put the canoes in the water for a week of camping and fishing.
Thanks for asking! Happy Independence Day to you and all.
I'm back from The Great North Woods and hope to listen to some records this week. Gonna rain all week, so no biking this week unless the forecast changes. Might as well use the time catching up on some listening.

Have to go to my LRS - Plaid Room Records on Friday to pick up my Pre-Order - Black Pumas - " Capitol Cuts: Live from Studio A [Blood Red Swirl Vinyl - Plaid Room/Colemine Records Exclusive Color]". Hope to pick up some additional LPs while I'm there. Haven't added much to my collection lately.

Have a good week all. Happy Listening!
