Outstanding.

That is wonderful music indeed.  A good recording?
@spiritofradio

lines by George Meredith added by Vaughan Williams as preface to his score of "The Lark Ascending"

I’m sure you have, but if you have not, listen to Hilary Hahn play The Lark Ascending. I believe my favorite version. For all who say Hilary is too technical, and does not play with enough emotion, she sure knocks that composition ‘outta the park’. IMO.
The other ‘new’ used LP….Richard again. His first solo LP after his split with Linda.

Richard Thompson - Hand Of Kindness. Hannibal 1983

Couple new LP’s arrived today….well, one new, one used

@flennon

Would be interested to hear what you think of the Richard and Linda Thompson reissue.

Sounds fantastic, and absolutely quiet as hell. That said, the only version I’ve had in vinyl, so cannot compare this to others. But, I’m pleased with it, and not too expensive either.

@flennon

I actually got it off eBay from a seller called moviemars. I’ve bought from them before, never had a problem, their shipping just isn’t the fastest at times as they use DHL commerce > USPS. But, only $24 shipping included.

Daniel Barenboim conducts Elgar:
- Cello Concerto, Op. 85 with the Philadelphia Orchestra and Jacqueline Du Pré, cello Live
Enigma Variations, Op. 36 with The London Philharmonic Orchestra Live

Columbia Masterworks 1977
@noromance

I had a woman once who often wanted to stay in and write. When I'd suggest going out to eat, she'd reply, "I just want to stay in and listen to Debussy."

ahhhh….a woman with incredible taste 😉
@spiritofradio

@bkeske, yes, of course we discussed that record, and, compared it to the same concerto and soloist but conducted by barbirolli with the LSO the latter being the (much) superior recording but the former being full of sweetness and life.

Thats right, you did mention that one too. The Daniel Barenboim is good, and she plays wonderfully, but you are also right, by Columbia's typical standards (which can fluctuate), that is a bit of a subpar recording IMO. It is enjoyable though, outside of audiophile standards, and in fact, the Enigma Variations are pretty nice.
@tomic601

i texted Brian K an rta screenshot of comfort me...... that should wilt a weenie power amp....ha. looks like some discogs shopping in order....unless..... ?

I'm going to have to check that out on streaming Jim. I don't have that Feist on CD.

On Discogs, the US offerings for Metal are really high cost, but, it seems you can get European (from European sellers) versions for less in vinyl form.
@tomic601

Love the cover on that one Brian
 As do I Jim. It’s my original copy, and has a couple bothersome spots on the vinyl. Need to find a replacement one of these days.

Essentially a Fairport w/Sandy LP, so worth spending for a better copy.
After a meeting and yard work….vinyl time
