The Who - "Live at Leeds"
The Complete 33 Track Set - Deluxe 3LP Edition - Half Speed Mastered at Abby Road Studios
Thanks to @johnto for the heads-up on this one. I always loved the original and mine is well played and past its prime. And although I loved the performance, I always thought the original sounded, well, truncated. This 3LP version is the opposite of truncated. Not only is it all of the songs from the original 33 track set, but they also left in all of the banter between the band and the crowd. And the sound quality is so good.
Get it if you are a fan of The Who. It's a smokin' deal at $30 for the 3LP deluxe Edition. Excellent quiet vinyl and fantastic packaging. One of the best deals ever on a re-issue/re-master. Well Done.

@mammothguy54 - Buy the 3LP Deluxe Edition of "Live at Leeds". It is very likely basically the same set you heard on the "Tommy" tour back in the day. It's played end to end, with all of the between-track banter left in. Great set and the sound quality is excellent. |
@wgh64 - Nice find. "Guitar Town" is a great album. Wish I had it on vinyl...... |
Finishing up Morphine - "Cure for Pain".
I usually don't care for bonus material. However, in this case the 2 sides of bonus material are pretty good and are quite a bit different from the original material. This record is really good. Great sound quality too.

@densely - Happy Friday! Welcome to the best thread on AudiogoN! Keep 'em coming...

So, the latest Robbie Robertson album - "Sinematic" is pretty darn good. Check it out via streaming and buy the LP if you like it. The quality of the vinyl LP is really good.

Guys, was thinking about reserving "Tapestry". I have a copy, but it is the original, bought by my oldest sister when I was a wee lad. It got played on our console, then on my sister's Magnavox Quad all-in-one, taken to parties, etc. It is in horrible condition, so I don't play it.
However, seems ridiculous to me to spend $125 for one record, especially considering I only have a relatively value priced TT. Of course, if things continue as they've been so far, I could just flip the album in a year or so for a profit......
Tough call. BTW, where did you order yours? The MoFi site? |
Chip Taylor - "This Side of the Big River"
|
Just bought the MFSL "Champagne Jam" on Discogs. Hoping for the best...... |
Jeff Beck with The Jan Hammer Group - "Live" |
|
@slaw - I don't have the MFSL, but I do like "Champagne Jam". Good record...... |
Wine! I knew I was forgetting something....... |
Sting - "The Dream of the Blue Turtles"
|
Van Morrison - "Tupelo Honey"
|
Brewer and Shipley - "Tarkio" |
Bruce Springsteen - "High Hopes"
|
Van Morrison - "Wavelength"
|
@tomic601 - I distinctly remember the first time I hear the song "Wavelength". Was driving across Florida (from Kentucky), toward Clearwater, in my buddy's brand new 1978 Subaru. Night time, thunderstorm on the horizon ahead. And the intro to Wavelength came on the radio. It was magical... That was a memorable trip. Ended up on the stage in a local bar, singing backup with the band, wearing a pair of borrowed shoes from the drummer because, you know, no shoes, no service...
So, how's the Robbie Robertson? Not bad for a guy that's almost 80 years old, right?

Counting Crows - "August and Everything After"
Label: DGC – B0025531-01 Format:2 × Vinyl, LP, Album, Reissue

Just ordered Rush - "All The World's a Stage" from a Discogs seller. Got the 2015 Rush Remaster. Hoping for the best. I have a couple of the remastered studio albums and think they are pretty good. Saw Rush for the first time shortly after this album was recorded, so it takes me back to that glorious time. I had it on 8-track, then CD many years later. Never owned the original LP. |
Steve,
Mine is not the 45RPM version..... |
@big_greg - Fine, I'll stick around for one more......
YES - "Tormato" |
Jimbo Mathus - "Dark Night of the Soul"
Not as good as "White Buffalo" overall IMHO, but some really good moments nonetheless. |
Jimbo Mathus and the Tri-State Coalition - "White Buffalo"
I love this album. Jimbo is the Real Deal. Like the music or not, it's authentic. You can hear Oxford, Mississippi in every note...... |
Utopia - "Adventures in Utopia"
|
|
Richard Thompson - "Across a Crowded Room"

A week or two ago I asked if anyone had a recommendation for a good release of The Who - "Who's Next". I don't believe I got any feedback, so I went to Discogs to see if I could find anything. There are a few recent reissue/remaster releases available. The one that seemed to get the best reviews, at a good price, was the 2012 Music on Vinyl (MOV) reissue/remaster. I found a new copy for a reasonable price on eBay and it arrived today.
I gotta say, this one sounds really good. Best I've ever hear "Who's Next". I do not have an older/original vinyl, but I have 2 different CDs, including one 2000's remaster w/bonus material, and the MOV vinyl release is better.
Recommended for anyone who loves this album and doesn't already have a good copy.
|
@mammothguy54 - Good Luck Joel. If you have any questions about the version, etc., just let me know. The 2012 MOV version sounds very good.
