Welcome back from your many miles of cycling Reubent! |
Greg....there are just so many responses I could make to that but I'm going to play nice tonight 😂😂.
Ok so definitely getting old but better than the alternative.....💀 |
Welcome Pratorious! Nice choice.
Touchdown ..... Bob James |
2000 miles...😲😲 I might not do that in my car this year!
Reubent superhero!
👏👏👏👏 |
Nice to see you here ebm!
Good call! |
Love me some Alice!
Cringeworthy storytime.
Back in about 1974 or so, maybe 73, there was a music paper in England called NME ( new musical express), every Wednesday. I was a religious reader! One week right on the front page was a story that there had been an accident at one of Alice show and the guillotine had a real blade in it and he had been beheaded!
I wailed and gnashed my teeth in anger, shock, horror and told/showed everyone at school who I thought might care.
It was April 1st........
Took a while to live THAT one down!
|
Winwood ...... Steve Winwood.
Great 1971 compilation with examples of his early work with The Spencer Davis Group and Traffic |
Well my local bric a brac reopened last week after rebuilding internal due to a major flood from burst pipes. So just had to help them out this morning 😁 Sealed nos copy of Who Made Who by AC/DC for $15. Sealed nos copy of Forever changes by Love mofi (2*45rpm) for $50.
Bit more than my normal bargain bin dives but great value for those albums! |
David at Weinhart Designs is a stand up guy. I am sure it will be as he said.
Right By You .... Stephen Stills.
Yowza! This is hot, as in lots of gain. Had to cut volume by 3db compared to normal. |
Brian The 2M mono cart is an excellent performer for the cost. One Nice aspect is you can also swap in a 78rpm stylus if you ever need too..... Dont ask...... |
Mammoth guy. One of the USA equivalent would surely be The Tubes stageshow. By all accounts pretty wild. |
A Tonic for the Troops .... The Boomtown Rats.
Avid now has the new to me Origin Live Encounter mk3c tonearm mounted. Still with the Ortofon Black Cadenza.
Fully aligned and set up by drrsutliff including using the WallySkater for antiskate.
Just left with tweaking vta by ear but I think we are VERY close right now. |
Seriously Brian. It's all enjoyment from here out.
And yes play some familiar stuff to get the idea of the improvement and tweak setting if you need too. Then just sit back and relax and let the smile get wider.......
Slaw. I just picked up 3 Death Cab albums, all NOS sealed.😁 |
The Photo Album ..... Death Cab for Cutie.
Was NOS and sealed. |
|
Never even heard of Dawes Slaw. Add that to Roon list. |
Freaking horrible day! Wasted 4 hours of my life taking half the lawn tractor to pieces just so I could refit the main drive belt. Whoever designed it must work for tRump!!!!
Ommmmmm..... |
Greg. I see my reputation precedes me......
😇😇
|
Boxer So sorry to hear that. Never easy. No words can help I know. Take it easy and take care of family. Stay safe |
Well the 401 was sitting glaring at me balefully so......
Really hate to say it but the Avid/Origin Live/Black Cadenza combo might have the legs on it....😲
Outsider ..... Uriah Heep |
R.E.O T.W.O .... Reo Speedwagon.
Nice early album before they became pop stars. |
Tomic if memory serves me correctly I think you sent me Drums and Guns by Low last year. Must dig it out and play again! |
Slaw I planned to get some time in today but the lawn tractor put paid to that. And I was over at drrsutliff place this morning listening to his new Wolf server.
And then feed the cats, feed myself, do the laundry........ blah blah.
Not the day I planned on having! |
Sorry but the Nakamichi called to me.......
So much great music,so little time.
Need to retire as this work lark is getting old fast....lol |
Look at Yourself ..... Uriah Heep.
In memory of Lee Kerslake who passed into the night 9/19/2020.
This is my favorite Heep album with some magical songs and some thunderous Kerslake skin beating. July Morning is an absolute classic for an eternity.
Rip Lee Kerslake |
1:50pmStreaming???? What is this thing you all speak of???? It is the 21st century you know...... 😂😂 |
All options are good so thanks again Greg.
Brian. I did play 2 albums on the 401 last night so it would quit sulking 😇.
Now the Rega is pouting..... |
|
Spitfire ..... Jefferson Starship.
On the 401. |
Also picked up some new albums while in indiana from fye, all reduced heavily. Hard to ignore original pricing of $28 and $34 down to $9.99.....
Van Morrison, Jackson Browne, Yo La Tengo. |
Nine Lives ..... Reo Speedwagon.
Hate to say it but this is a terrible recording, no bass or mids all tipped up treble. Really irritating! |
The Last Record Album .... Little Feat.
To my ears the Avid/ origin live/ Black Cadenza is really kicking the 401,s butt. Which is a bit of a surprise tbh. Seems to be a lot more life and dynamics and definitely more bass depth and timbre. |
Record #5 from my Mono box set.
Josef Krips conducts The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Mozart Symphony #35 in D .(Haffner)
Haydn Symphony #104 in D.(London) |
Heroes are Hard to Find .... Fleetwood Mac.
1974 Reprise Records. |
Noromance. All of the above except a power supply. Platter is original but with a lot of additional weight judiciously added. Idler and bearing both upgraded items. Tonearm was rewired with cryoed silver wire. 40lb Birch And Curly Maple plinth. Going to try the Koetsu on it tomorrow as I do think the Scheu is past it’s best. |
From the Witchwood .... Strawbs.
Very Nice original 1970 A&M recording with excellent sonics |
You da man Jim. Many Many thanks brother.
My first serious Aria guitar had a figured Curly Maple top. It played very nicely but looked even better. |
Can’t afford a Stax setup Tomic....... 😇
This Beyerdynamic rig is working out pretty well though |
Her who must be obeyed informed me she has a headache and going to bed. Translation..... Turn it down!!!!!! Feel the need for some volume so switched to headphones. Actually never played a record before wearing cans, afraid I’m likely to trip over the cable when I get up and impale myself on the tonearm or similar.
Lets Dance ..... David Bowie. |
I would have to second Eric's opinion on Madcap Laughs. It is plain scary but not surprising when you consider the mind it came from at the time.
A little saner on now.
See See the Sun ..... Kayak |
Moby Grape S/T
1967 original Mono on the Rega.
Pretty sure it was bdp24 who commented on Moby Grape albums a little while ago. Said the 1st was good, 2nd poor, 3rd good etc.
Well I can attest to the fact that the 1st that I am playing now is way better than the 2nd in every way. Much more musical and cohesive. |
American Water ..... Silver Jews |
Shaken,N, Stirred ..... Robert Plant |
Think the Scheu is ready for retirement. Fitted the Karat 23r Ruby to the 401 today and yowsers! Back in ear to ear grin mode! |
Slaw. Add Silver Jews to that increase value list. Could not believe how much they are now on discogs!! |
I’m seriously considering treating myself to a Bricasti M3 with network card for Xmas......
It's being Roon Certified right now..... |
@noromance Yes I was getting concerned that a belt drive could put the kibosh on the 401!
Now in-between sides I had a good look at the Scheu stylus under the magnifying glass and...... It has a good coating of crud which as I have been using ME fairly regularly is perplexing. Unless it is buildup from the Lyra SPT treatment I have been using?
Course the question is how best to clean it if ME won't touch it? |
Fortunately millercarbon is no moron, and bought HCQ months ago, just in case. Wife brought it in, and so I’m able to get proper meds in spite of the docs. Darn, maybe I should not have stuck quite so many pins in the MC effigy after all...... Seriously though I do not wish covid-19 on ANYBODY and hope he gets through it safely. |
Brand X “Livestock”
Went out to Record Store Day and found this mint copy in the used section. Was that from Forever Young , downtown? |
Perfect Sound Forever!
Yep, was suckered into that too, gave all my records to charity shop back in England and proceeded to spend a small fortune on new CD, players and discs.
Wish I had a crystal ball back then.... |
