You know you are my brother from another mother Steve.
No worries my friend.
We are both too passionate about this hobby at times.
I keep looking at the bike hanging on the garage wall, check the heat and humidity and come to same conclusion every time..... Lol.
Maybe October will look better.😁
Interesting.
I am currently using one of the MyMat on the Avid as it gave best results atop the cork that is bonded to the platter vs no MyMat.
That is combined with the Avid screw on clamp/weight.

Right now.

Outlasting the Blues ... Arlo Guthrie.
This is a WLP and it shows.😲😲.

On the Avid/Rega/ Ortofon Black Cadenza rig.

I feel the Rega arm is the weak link on this rig and the table and Cart deserve better.
Tomic
I checked out a couple stores yesterday for rsd leftovers, slim pickings!
Thanks Jim, nothing that sets my world on fire there.
Hawkwind Quark but I have an original copy so.....
You buying into anything?
Slaw
I do have three Maze Audio PC but they have really been made redundant by the Shunyata PC.

I could not find anything on Rega arm mods though?
Ha
We all been there.
Question is, good enough to be a contender or just better than it was?
Early days I guess though.
Cured ..... Steve Hackett.

Still on the Avid, might switch to the 401 later tonight although the Avid is sounding excellent so far today.
I'm thinking once the Nobsound springs arrive I have a lot of experiment time!
Btw I am using a very high end phono cable that drrsutliff loaned me that made a very noticeable difference on the 401.
Nope, can't remember the brand but it was in the $1500 range!

I am thinking that an Origin Live tonearm could be a nice upgrade over the Rega on the Avid.
Choices, choices.

For now just enjoying the music!
Boxer
A couple years back I oh so nearly bought a pair of those too.
Price was very very good.
Read many reviews but a prior poor experience with a pair of Bel Canto rf500m class D amps sort of put me off the whole class D thing.
I found the Bel Canto were just lacking in life and dynamics.
And 500w?
Not sure where they were hiding the other 400w......lol.
Good luck sir!
I better not start on how dark and deep these rabbit holes can get....😁😁.

Saying that I am pretty content with the range of carts and TT I have at my disposal right now although I do consider the Rega arm on the Avid to be it's weak link.
Doh, I'm teetering on the edge of that hole......πŸ€”πŸ€”
Cool beans! Slaw!
Another possibility for tonearm Brian.

Origin live.

Drrsutliff swears by them, he has two mounted right now but higher up the food chain.
Supposed to fit anywhere a Rega will.
Think there are a couple on the Gon too.

Something I am considering to replace my Rega arm down the road.
I'm already dreading my end of day, end of listening for several days
Shame.
Fortunately It looks like a down week next week so should make up for lost vinyl playback.

In-between knocking items off the honey dew list of course.
Astra ..... Asia.

Good show Brian!
keep your eye on that eBay Jelco.
With all the accessories if it stays below $1k I think it would be a great start.
Ra ..... Utopia.

401/Micro Seiki/ Scheu rig.

This is I think my favorite Utopia album.
Record #3 from my Treasury of Music mono box set.

Tchaikovsky piano concerto #1 in B flat minor.
Conducted by Anatole Fistoulari.
Never even heard of it Slaw.

I had forgotten just how great Ra is.
Side 2 is extra special but they must have been on some really good drugs at the time.

I mean Singring and the Glass Guitar is outlandish but spectacular at the same time.
@noromanceΒ
How many springs did you end up with in each "pod" and did you place in the four corners or?
Thanks πŸ‘
Good to hear Boxer!
Maybe I should have given a pair a chance at the time...ah well.
So much gear.
So little time and money!

Tarkus ..... ELP.

Cotillion label
thanks noromance, did not see your reply there, my bad.

Pretty interesting the load variation and that using 3 spring pods, I had used 4 springs in my last attempt.
Oh that's television right?
Can't remember when I last turned it on to watch anything.
And only have Netflix on it and Pandora.

The wife has the big TV (75") with the HT rig.
Think mine is 42", too small for my eyes.
It's a good monitor for my DVD-A discs though...πŸ˜‡

Yes Brian.
It should be a lot of fun indeed.
And with luck you will be playing all your albums again as they now sound like different records altogether.
Keep us posted on your journey.
Oh and mind those rabbit pellets πŸ˜‡
Can't remember when I last played this.

Houses of the Holy ... Led Zeppelin.
Brian.
I have just about all Zeppelin output on cassette including this but.....
I visited my lrs a few weeks back and saw this for $12. Just had to buy it at that price.
So first time playing it on vinyl for me tonight.
I did us clean it and it's probably VG+ or EX so not a bad deal at all.
Flush the Fashion ..... Alice Cooper.

His 80,s albums are mostly overlooked.
I actually quite like some of his 80,s stuff.
He went through some interesting phases right up until he decided he wanted a slice of MTV fame with Posion.
Slam ..... Dan Reed Network.

Unfortunate title as this album lacks all definition of "slam" musically.

Love this band but the SQ on this is pretty lame.
Quite a range of carts there Brian, most of them I think you would be happy with.

Might I ADD the Goldring 1042 or 2400 to your list just to increase your quandary.......
Out of your list at 1k or close I think the Soundsmith Zephyr would be hard to beat.
"One unscrupelous seller gave me bad feedback on USAM when Paypal agreed with me that the gear he sent me was defective and not as described and refunded my money. "

My guess is that’s why it has red flags.

Slaw.
Release is a great album all round imho
Been in a pretty somber and reflective mood tonight.
As well as the sad news of Almarg, I visited my LRS today where one of the partners who I knew and talked to regularly just keeled over and died yesterday.

Makes one think deeply on your own mortality.

To that end I played Records 3,4&5 of the Treasury of Music mono classical box set that had been loaned to me.

Bit more upbeat now.

Volunteers ..... Jefferson Airplane.
Rocks ... Aerosmith.

Must be getting old...πŸ§“πŸ§“.

If you had told me 5 years ago I would prefer Bob James to Aerosmith I would have laughed you out of the building!
Maybe I'm just maturing like fine wine?
Slaw
There are two members with very similar names....
Spiritofradio
Spiritofaudio

The latter was James I believe.
Could be mixed up though.... lol
