Man this record kills me. It’s new to me in the last year but stirs up feelings as if it were a familiar record from school days. He and whoever recorded this sure knew how to get an effect.

@boxer12  You’ve probably been aware of this already but just in case not and you might be interested, “Future Days” is getting a “repress” (gold vinyl).  Since I don’t have that record (it’s so good) I plan to order it through elusive disk.  (SKU:MUTLP93856)

@tomic601 Yes! Saw that! Planning on it.  Maybe check in during the show.  You probably saw, their record isn’t in the new package.   Digital only.   I’m guessing the label might have decided their music wouldn’t quite fit in with the other stuff they put out site unseen and unheard to subscribers.  Not certain.  Will hope for a separate release.
@gardners501    Nice!   Don’t you love it when that happens.   I mean so many years since it was issued and it was still out there to find.  Kinda thing that Keeps me going.
@dayglow Nice stack (as usual).

New Kings of Leon double album out today. Streaming it now and it’s rockin true to form, true to sound.
@livin_262002 Hey, I have the US op of that WM title.  It’s a great sounding record.

@boxer12, I dunno, did Barry write songs about palm trees and tropical umbrella drinks?
@bdp24 you're right about the date.  Pre-orders open.  Pop Market has the comprehensive set for $119.  Looks really nice.
@bdp24 yep.  Maybe it was just an email about preorders showed up today.  But yeah it sounds pretty good doesn’t it.   Thanks for the details.
Re: tempest.   Is 1973 Warner bros.   Self titled.  It’s black on the top half of the cover with this flame colored weather pattern below.   I think he only made one record with those guys, not totally certain.  It’s on the heavy side for holdsworth.  Great tone and great licks.  Like if John McLaughlin was in Mountain.
@reubent +1 on Holdsworth.  Man can he play.  Did you see the recent RSD re-issue of Road Games?  I got it and it’s pretty sweet.  I know I asked you about his one record with Soft Machine.  Do you have the Tempest album?  Oh man.  Here I go.
Jayhawks and pretension don’t belong in the same sentence.
I am mocked....

I’ll go first, my desert island disk is Jimmy Buffet’s greatest hits... no wait, something by Spyro Gyra!
I don’t have the “original” to compare it to.  Although this recording is sort of unique in that aspect.  It was recorded for radio broadcast in France in, I think, 1979, then issued on a somewhat fancy label in 1984.  Then ORG made the one I have in 2014 or so.  I’ve posted before about the exceptionally solid imaging this record produces through my system.  Which is excellent and exceptional as compared to almost any record.  So, alas no I can’t offer a direct comparison but I assume this is “the best” for this title.
I know what you’re getting at.  I appreciate exceptional records (op, or reissue, or whatever they be).  I can probably count on one hand though the records for which I have multiple copies.   Although I enjoy and often covet the purportedly good ones I’m not all that committed I guess.  Just love the music.  Mostly.
I do have 3 copies of Fragile.
@slaw  Fancy = expensive and pretentious audiophile label (re)issues.  It’s a bit tongue in cheek. That record is a treasure to me, but someone could say it is pretentious.

FYI new release of “Stage Fright” out today.  Both single LP and deluxe packages available.
@slaw speaking of Heart....We watched Almost Famous over the weekend.  She had actually never seen it.  What a terrific movie.  And one of the best ever collections of songs for a soundtrack.  Nancy Wilson’s contributions really good as well.  Thanks for the idea.  She loved it.

bunch a communists. I probably went on the FBI’s sedition watch list just for buying this.
@dayglow you addressed your post to Jim but for my part I think the way you post is totally cool - hence my attribution.   I think any additional info, especially re: SQ would be appreciated by the members.

@tomic601 +1 on Jason Isbell.
Hey @slaw & @boxer12 Thanks for recommending Joan Shelley. I really like her. My history shows I’d listened to some of her early work but honestly I didn’t have her in memory. I think I like her latest album best but it’s all great. Now have to get it on vinyl and very much looking forward to that sound. The Hem refer is right on Tim - in connection to her latest studio album. She even looks a little like Sally .... Thanks record dudes.

Unbelievably good SQ!
A couple of years ago we saw this film in the concert hall here with the Oregon Symphony and a local University choral group (great stories and sounds there) performing the score live along with the movie. It was a good trick. Probably done by every major symphony across the land - and fun but didn’t sound anything like this record does in my living room.

Thanks @bdp24 I saw that on VMP and it prompted  me to pull my old one out.   Don’t really feel I need to get the new one although I’m sure the pressing is great.
I agree about that car. The 240 was a family favorite. We had 2. Both orange. The 280 was hot. Pioneer car stereo would have been hard to beat in that era (I just had kenwood and infinity speakers).
I think comparing early Journey to Secret Sisters is possibly apples and oranges. Unless of course you’re solely taking about vinyl and sound quality. Now, comparing the Secret Sisters to Steve Perry might be more valid since all three probably wear the same underwear and face makeup.
Pic is of Mungo Jerry: In the spirit of radio.
Thanks Steve.  I’ve streamed it.  It was awhile back though- will give it another try.  Is the vinyl particularly good?
