Great to hear it Jim.   You’ve been a good patient.  I think something like the Bradley Delp exhibition of lung strength on the first Boston album might be in order.
Pursue a pressing of the instrumental “Fantasy” portion of “Shropshire Lad” it is a lovely thing.   I have at least three versions of this.  A true favorite.   It’s included sometimes to round out the balance of a record’s capacity but winds up being a highlight - IMHO.
.....I watched M Fremer bash the Two Men With Beards lable as all digital.

Yeah, they’re not all bad though.  The Charles Lloyd record they put out isn’t the greatest but it’s pretty good and way better than my original.
@noromance those are stock photos of my components and speakers.  My living room isn’t nearly that stylish.  It’s old lath and plaster walls and window glass of course.
@noromance , have you posted which (brand/model) US you’re using, frequency, etc.  Forgive me if I missed it.

@ghosthouse , @petg60, I’m also a big fan of Gismonti and have posted about him here recently.  If you don’t have his “Sanfona” album, urge you to check it out (both disks, they’re different from each other) I think it’s his best.  I often suggest it to fans of Pat Metheny.   Gismonti is a great talent.
Although he might not be as crazy fast and cerebral as Larry Coryell, that Steve Khan plays a beautiful guitar.
Turning in.  Hope you all had a happy Easter.
So, It’s cool when you read a review or an article in the respectable print about an old record you have and the writer has something good to say.  Today I read about a set of acoustic guitar records (three principally) highlighted in a piece in Absolute Sound and I had all three and played them today (the Larry Coryell included) and it was good.
Jim - yeah, it’s a little obscure.   It’s cool though and for about $2 you can get a you-were-there experience of his late 70’s acoustic period live solo concerts.  This was after he made that kinda noisy (but good) electric stuff you’ve probably heard that is said to typify the roots of Jazz Fusion but before he made all those duo and trio records that are so well respected for the musicianship.  I run across it a lot in the bins.
So this Cotton Jones kinda reminds me of Alla-Las and a few other bands I can’t remember the name of.  I like it.   I know it can seem melancholy but the irony is to me pretty laugh out loud funny.

I’m leaving this silly thread and heading over to the streamer app to look for this mythical and elusive Cotton Jones character...
@keegiam, cool!  I think @noromance , a frequent poster here, is also into Larry Coryell.  I have just a handful of his records.  That one was my first and remains my favorite.   I also really like his digital recordings on The Chesky label.  You’re right on about his playing and how it appeals.  Are you a 12-string player too?
@bkeske, maybe she had a stroke or a series of small strokes. Happened to my Father a couple of times and he got exceptionally cranky for awhile afterward. I wonder if music would help her. Just listening, you know.
Happy Easter (to everyone).
Speaking of Sierra Hull (who is on cuttin grass if I’m not too confused).  Have you ever heard her husband pick a guitar?  Whew!
Your thread is still there:

and btw, you are right on about “Third Mind” I’ve been enjoying it since you posted about it here awhile back.  Thanks.
Steve,   Well I hope you like cutting’ grass.  I sure do but I’m really into Newgrass.  My favorite Sturgill Simpson record is  “Metamodern Sounds In Country Music” which if you don’t know of it, is sort of psyc-country, Waylon type music with the tricks and hooks but not typical of Nashville pop country.
@slaw  I checked out Big Lazy - puts a smile on your face same way as Federale.   Cool!
For @tomic601 and other fans, Charles Lloyd and the Marvels have a new record coming out next month “Tone Poem”.  Bill Frisell on guitar.   Promising.

@reubent it had been so long since I played it I’d mostly forgotten what was on it.   Maybe more “country” and less popular than their other more well known stuff.
I never liked Poco when I was Young.... but they’ve kinda grown on me.

A voice to fall in love with.  MPB is great; absolute incomprehensible lyrics so the music isn’t spoiled.
That Hilary Hahn Bach album is incredible.

Indeed it is. I may not be the best judge of these things but to me it seems like her playing is exceptional. I also have her Bach Concertos )with the LA Chamber Orchestra) in heavy rotation. Skilled and emotive.
*. *. *.
Thinking more about Fairport Convention, do you know the work of the UK Folk musicians Josienne Clarke & Ben Walker? If not try Nothing Can Bring Back The Hour. It’s incredibly good.  Worthy to pick up where FC left off and phased out a long time ago,  I think.  @noromance, was thinking you might dig their stuff too if you don’t know it already.
