Reubent. I just picked up that same Yes, Drama album today, not had chance to play it yet.
Slaw
Picked up Never Enough a week or so back too, again no time to play yet.
One of my top show off system albums is Yes I Am on reel at 7.5ips. |
Don't you just love Apple auto correct!
Great info on the MyMat Slaw, time to experiment a bit more. I use a combo weight/ clamp right now.
Living in the USA .... Linda Ronstadt |
Slaw Good morning, another all nighter I see!
Might be hard to slide another system past the wife.... lol, although I do need to do something with the Victor TT-71 that is just sitting under a coffee table!
As an aside about 3 days ago I purchased a copy of 2112 that is a 200g reissue and a DMM for a very fair price, claimed to be NM. It might arrive today so we shall see. I needed to replace my very worn original copy.
|
Slaw Further to Rush.
When I was 17( many years ago now) our college in England had a nice student common room where it seemed I spent more time than in class😁.
It did have a stereo which is why I think I stayed so much.
I think it fair to say we wore out three albums due to constant rotation, and who cared about stylus state at 17!
2112 by Rush. Grand Illusions by Styx. Destroyer by Kiss.
Good time's! |
Slaw Then I must have a shite copy as the SQ is sadly lacking especially mid and low bass.... I had to check to see if my woofers had shut down!
I know it's a USA club edition but that's all I know. It's in great shape, no surface noise or pops, just lifeless.
The original 68 Traffic album following it knocks it out the ballpark. |
Boxer. It sure is. I love the way the piano is recorded on it.
Following it with another classic original.
If S/T. |
Nice oldie I picked up and us cleaned.
Traffic S/T. |
|
Laid Back .... Gregg Allman. |
Slaw Was that the 2015 reissue? Mine is an original Santa Maria pressing. |
|
Rocket Fuel .... Alvin Lee .. Ten Years Later. |
Having a Party with Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes.
Just a great boogie album, impossible not to tap your feet to it! |
|
Rocking out the night with....
Look at Yourself .... Uriah Heep.
Their best IMHO. July Morning is spell binding......
|
Special Forces ...... Alice Cooper.
From his pretty much unloved era of releases.
It's not bad...... |
Shake it Up .... The Cars.
Superb SQ! |
Power ..... Kansas.
Not one of their best SQ wise, it's pretty bright and "hot". |
Trouble is how many copies of the Wall can one person own? I have 4 different ones already.....
Rewind to England 1977 or 78? Bit hazy in that era, not sure why....🤔🤔
Caught Floyd performing the Wall at Hammersmith Odeon live. |
Coming down your Way .... Three Dog Night |
Slaw. The songs themselves on Power are pretty decent, just not very well recorded or mixed or mastered, whichever is the cause of the less than stellar SQ. It is a mint example though so no surface noise or clicks anywhere so that's a plus. |
Slaw. Boston S/T is a fantastic album in all aspects especially SQ.
Third Stage.... Not so much...... |
Fish out of water ..... Chris Squire. |
No more vinyl this week as back to work Monday in glorious Weldon, NC. So be streaming all next week.
Been a great 3 weeks off for sure, batteries recharged and ready to blaze the trails as a road warrior again. Last year was hectic, made Diamond status on Delta which means 125,000 miles in the air........ |
Will look out for it Spirit. They have 5 tracks on Qobuz.
Right now, final album for the night as up at 3am to fly to work.
Emerson, Lake & Palmer S/T. |
Just had to check out It's Immaterial on Roon.
Too funny, we would call them Scousers. You will have to Google that one 😂 |
What do you think of Hiroshima Greg? I had never heard them but in the last lot of tapes I bought there was one of their albums. Quick listen but seemed a little not really my taste. |
Slaw My post of that vpi experience was in no way shape or form meant to belittle or reduce your not so great experience. Just a counterpoint that shows maybe they have got their act together a little better of late.
The more information put out here the better.
I certainly wish I had been a member here many more years ago than 2013 especially the group here. It could have saved me some painful learning events😂😂 |
I may have to look for that set Slaw..... |
Well I'm beat. Another awful brutal work week, I'm getting too old for this malarkey... Lol.
So even though I have a stack about 100 deep of new to me albums I just felt I have to play this for tonight's swansong.
In fact there was a thread along the lines of what albums would you want to be stuck on a desert island with or something like that. This would have to be in my suitcase.....
Deceptive Bends .... 10cc.
How can one ever tire of Feel the Benefit?
Just one question though...where the bloody hell would you find a darned record player on a desert island??
Night all👍 |
Time and a Word ...... Yes.
Found a new to me LRS today, Tiger Records, in a trendy revitalized Riverside area near the art museum myself and my daughter visited this morning.
Considering it's location their prices are VERY fair and a very nice mixed selection including the Yes album mentioned above. A happy camper today! |
Yeah but if we ever had a big quake I think this big sandbox would just sink and we would be back to 49 States.
Sacred Heart ..... Dio. |
Too Late the Hero....... John Entwistle. |
Dreggs of the Earth ..... Dixie Dreggs. |
@reubent
I see Nektar will be playing in Cincinnati on 28th February, hope you get to see them!
Not coming anywhere remotely near Florida unfortunately!
|
@reubent
Could not tell you if the modern version of Nektar is a must see, maybe a few here who are going to see them can chip in. All I can say is if they were near me I would be going.
This work week has been a bit crappy but all done now and just tidying up this morning and home tonight so yep spinning some discs this weekend. Wife says I have a pile of parcels waiting, all new albums..... lol.
|
Headhunters is a killer album!
I use it as a test album after any system changes.
And just to really enjoy of course! |
To the Hilt .... Golden Earring. |
Inarticulate Speech of the Heart. .... Van Morrison. |
Aftertones ... Janis Ian. |
@slaw
Yes indeed!
LMAO.
Back with a vengeance!
How far was Weldon from you? I flew into Richmond and drove down to Weldon.
This morning I moved my JVC QL-A7 to the second system, fitted a Glanz MF Cart and making glorious music.
Better than it sitting under the coffee table! 😂😂 |
Middle of nowhere for sure!
Back at the Plain of Jars ... Agitpop. |
Slaw. I have it, Columbia Terre Haute pressing 1975, needs a good clean! A real flexi flyer... Lol. On the Todo list..... |
Good for you Slaw!
Music is very important but family....
Well need say no more......
My daughter and myself had a wonderful day today which does not happen every day.... Lol. |
@reubent
Send all your leftovers my way brother!
On an ever increasing spiral here!
😂🤣😂🤣 |
LMFAO 😂😂😂
Down to just 4 TT now Reubent..... I'm wasting away....... |
@bdp24 .
What a story Eric! Fantastic font of Musical history and information as ever.
That's just another reason to keep on coming to these threads, always something great to learn!
|
Not vinyl but....
Listening to Stupid Dream by Porcupine Tree on DVD-A and the SQ is out of this world.
Helps that my digital replay is stout with an Esoteric player.
And that it's just a fantastic album period. |
Voice of the Heart … Carpenters |
Tomic.
On another note entirely.
Did I read somewhere you were familiar with Friday Harbour? It is high on our retirement list and will be visiting in July this year. |
