Just read your post on Nagaoka stylus time and it has to be marketing drivel.
I have at least 500 probably 600 hours on my mp150 and it still sounds great, tracks anything etc.
And it’s definitely not derailing the thread, it’s useful information all of us Audiophool need!
😁😁
I did find a mp500 for $450 in Japan.....
Sometimes you Win .... Dr.Hook.

Slaw is now an audiophile manufacturer!
Way to go and good luck!

Yes Happy New year to one and all!

I'm not going to even make midnight so cheers madears and see you all next year!

I have not been able to get into pure Jazz as such.
Jazz Fusion or crossover is as far as I can handle.
Brian.
The Thorens idler drive TT are excellent decks and not to be sneezed at.
The great thing about both Garrard and Thorens and even Lenco if you want to look at idler drive TT is there is a huge aftermarket following.
You can basically totally rebuild about any model with way better than new parts.
Of course it all boils down to how much you want to spend....

I was very very fortunate to stumble across my 401 and after a bout of very hard negotiating it was mine.
I consider that i stole it.... Lol.
No way I could get close to assembling the same rig for close to what I paid.
And I have been in love ever since it arrived with just carts rotating in and out of usage.
Noromance is also a 401 user.

My previous TT was no slouch being a Nottingham Analog Spacedeck but the 401 murdered it in every aspect of performance.
Had not used the Scheu Analog SL cart for a LONG time and not since I went the SUT route for MC carts.
WOW, truly sweet, digging the details it extracts. Not quite as forward as the Nagaoka but very potent.

It's staying on for a while......
Jamesclarke
That rig obviously needs some PPT products and one of Slaw MyMat.

Not sure what I can offer to assist the rat bar some Ratatouille......
Boxer
I still have the same one that is on Fleabay right now. That's the mf100.
I also had two others that I don't remember model number of.

It was hyped up more than the reality IMHO.

See my post above where I said the bass was very one dimensional. I suppose for $240 it is ok but not something I could honestly recommend to anyone after using one myself.

And 10-4 to Nicolai!
Nice haul of 8 new albums from Barnes and Noble today.
I was very surprised at the range and depth of vinyl there.
Amongst others picked up Elvis Costello, Beth Hart, Alison Krauss, Incubus and more.
No time to spin any until later tonight.
Slaw
Funny you should say that as that was one of the very first things I noticed when I played it on cassette for the first time.

Hesitation Blues, How Long Blues, Uncle Sam Blues, Winin Boy Blues.

Yep I think they done the Blues to death on that album..... lol.Β
Better ask Hot Tuna how many Blues you can have.

They seem to have a handle on it.
Nice to see you here Rick.

Not heard that Talk Talk album, add it to my list!
Slaw
It's probably his best effort IMHO.

And just the title would be enough!
😁😁
Just to keep up with the Blues.

The Resurrection of Pigboy Crabshaw .... Butterfield Blues Band.
Hermit of Mink Hollow ..... Todd Rundgren.

Thx Tomic!
It's looking surprisingly good right now, it was a very clean cut.
So little is ever mentioned about it...
Are you referring to the Supertramp album or HDCD in general?

For that later Supertramp album choices are limited to CD, HDCD, cassette and even a minidisc release but no vinyl ☹️
Mwinkc..
That sounds horrible....
Mine just flesh wound compared to that.
And literally flesh as it was the side of my finger between knuckles so could have been a lot worse!
461 Ocean Blvd .... Eric Clapton

Unfortunately despite two goes on the cleaner it still resembles Rice Crispies, Snap, Crackle and Pop!

Off to the giveaway pile it goes.

Have a friend and she is struggling financially a little so I donate a few of my leftovers for her garage sales.
My bit of Goodwill!
I also saw that particular Roger Waters album at Barnes and Noble.
I passed as I remember streaming it and thinking, well ok but not much more.

Be interested in Greg's thought on it as don't want to be seen as dissing it outright.... πŸ™„πŸ™„
16f4.

So sorry to hear that you have to leave the vinyl fold, I hope all goes well and you can find the time to return when life mellows out again.

Obviously with the node 2i you will still be enjoying great music which is great.

Well glad to hear it's an upbeat positive life change.
Which city may I ask?

Golden Biscuits .... Three Dog Night
Listening to a CD of Milt Jackson on a 20 year old Sony boom box, out in the garage while cleaning my latest haul from the bargain bins.

Thinks πŸ€”
Hmm, maybe we need a TT in here too?
πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰
Going for Presto by Rush next up.
Super SQ on this record even though my copy had seen much better days.

Tomic.

That's one baller garage system.......

Just heard, I had no idea and apparently it was on Tuesday.
Brain cancer for a few years fight.
So sad.
Slowly our heroes are succumbing to the inevitable.

2112 original edition in honor of one of the truly great drummers of our time.
Before I switch to streaming Rush for the night had to play this little gem first.

Little Robbers ..... The Motels.
