fone 2015

Recorded in 2005 all analogue, analogue cutting and one-step production.  This recording captures dynamics and spatial effects very well.  Tones are rich but there’s something odd about the tone, especially the cellos and basses, and maybe a little hard edged treble.  Maybe it is true to the venue, not certain.   Very quiet vinyl.  Sweet rendition of the music but not completely certain yet how I feel about it.  Fortunately it wasn’t super expensive.    Will reevaluate after the 4th or 5th listen.
@just_asking,  Ha! You’ll find plenty of common interest around here with that set brother.   Keep ‘em coming.
@bkeske, sounds great.  Very very pleased for you.  You write so well about it and you describe many similar effects and things I felt when I added a tube phono stage.  It was quite a revelation and really inspiring for me too.  Enjoy it brother.
@nicks25 Hey there, no, no new streamers lately - I’ve been pretty focused on analogue, buying many records. I also ordered some nice modest new speakers to try in the den (second set/second room) Tekton Perfect SET 2-10. Records are just so good right now and I’ve been rushing to flesh out the collection at the same time I’m spinning from all the distractions of new issues. Keep the posts coming.  How’z your arm ?  Healing up?

@bkeske,  Brian, I recently bought a Karajan conducted Beethoven Violin Concerto with Christian Ferras.   It’s big and full like a symphony. Different in that way and I like it.   The discogs seller had it listed as NM and it is very shiny but it’s got a big visible spindle gouge across it with an annoying audible click.  So, will have to find another copy. Anyway, thought you might be interested in the music if not my scratches story.

@tomic601 re Low. Guess you found your low end...  fun record.  A system workout, as they say.
@slaw

BTW, the ADD/POWR plug-ins ain’t no snake oil.

Checked w/ my Alpha Labs line EMI meter. Down over 200 Mv. with these plugged in. This is a significant sonic upgrade.

Unlike the High Fidelity MC.o2 plug-ins, these work well with the PPT stuff.

I see two more in my future. Report this

do you have these plugged in to your outlets or into an empty/extra plug on your Hydra, or both?

Also, wondering what would happen with one of these on the same outlet or power strip with a Schumann Resonance Generator.   Might be interesting, or maybe not.
@waltersalas i think I’ve +1’d you before about Magico - I love that record for more reasons than three. Have I asked you if you have Gismonti’s “Sanfona”. If not you definitely should check it out.  I think it’s one of the best records I have.  Fans of Pat Metheny love it.

Jimbo & Andrew  So much talent.
Does anybody remember the Squirrel Nut Zippers? I don’t listen to that music very much anymore but was really into it about 25-30 years ago.  Royal Crown Review and The Big Kahuna were other favorites during that whole swanky girls in cocktail dresses swingers revival deal.  That was a fun time.  Seems like a lot of that kind of fun has gone out of the hipster ethos.  I return to Andrew Bird for relief from the current malaise.

@slaw of course, that would be the plan.  As you know, I much prefer OPs & PPs to fancy audiophile-oriented represses and will continue to try to find a good copy of that record.  Was saying (Separately) thinking of spending on the one-step.  My experience with the couch album so far has been similar to Joel’s.
@tomic601 I pre-ordered that new Charles Lloyd from somewhere, don’t remember which - amazon’s Cardboard continues to disappoint.    What’s been released so far sounds great.
Thanks Steve, really nice of you to do that.
I’m thinking of breaking down and getting the one step.  What do you think?
@anagreen, right on.  Welcome keep the posts coming.  Any fan of ph welcome around here.
@730waters,  Waters!  Welcome back man.  We’ve missed you.  I have so many records from the early hard rock era to discuss with you.

@bkeske That’s exciting for you Brian. It took me a long time to learn how important a phono stage is. Sounds like you’re getting a good one.

this finally arrived today from Berlin after a 3+ month wait. Wow does it sound good though. Pristine vinyl and a spectacular recording. Wonderfully dynamic, clear and bright. I’m sitting on the stage in front of the Violas.
