RUSH - "A Farewell to Kings"
The Edgar Winter Group - "They Only Come Out at Night" |
Lucinda Williams - "Little Honey" |
@wayneschlapkohl - Are you talking about "Awaken" on the YES album - "Going for the One"? If so, that album is fantastic IMHO. The song - "Parallels" from that album is one of my all-time favorite songs from YES and I'm a big fan of the band. I also always liked "Wonderous Stories". I think it's a really good album. Interestingly, I also like "Drama" even though it is not the classic lineup of YES musicians.
@big_greg - YES - Chris Squire, Steve Howe, Rick Wakeman, Bill Bruford and Jon Anderson. What an incredibly talented lineup. Each a master of their instrument IMHO. |
James McMurtry and the Heartless Bastards - "Live in Aught-Three"
James McMurtry and the Heartless Bastards - "Live in Aught-Three" Sides 3/4
Willie Nelson - "Willie and Family Live"
Always fantastic. |
YES - "Close to the Edge"
Courtney Barnett - "Tell Me How You Really Feel"
@slaw - No, if my "6 for a dollar" record deals went up to "5 for a dollar", I'd be OK with it! No, I'm talking about quality used records that were $4.99 or $5.99 a couple of years ago, then $7.99 or $8.99 a year ago, are now $12.99-$19.99. Makes me consider skipping used and going for new. |
It's Friday, which usually means "Record Store Day" to me. Just back from my LRS with a few nice used records. Very happy with what I got and with the prices. However, I have noticed that the prices of really good used records at my LRS are creeping up. What you you guys seeing?
Here's today's haul:
Normal Greenbaum - "Spirit in the Sky" Midnight Oil - "Desert and Dust" Don Henley - "Building the Perfect Beast" Chris Whitley - "Living With the Law" The Who - "The Kids are Alright"
Listening to Norman Greenbaum right now. Never heard this album before, only previously heard the title track. So far, I'm liking it.
The Kinks - "One for the Road" |
Chris Whitley - "Living With the Law"
@jengelmann - Welcome to the "What's on Your Turntable Tonight?" thread. You're right. Both sides, it's the only way. Unless it's a double or triple LP. That sometimes stretches into 2 evenings for me.
Keep 'em coming.......
Midnight Oil - "Diesel and Dust"
Don Henley - "Building the Perfect Beast"
@michaelburke - Welcome to the "Whats on Your Turntable Tonight?" thread. Glad the music perked you up! Keep 'em coming..... |
The Who - "The Kids are Alright"
@slaw - The MOV copy of "Living With the Law" that I bought yesterday has a very audible scratch across track 1&2 on side one. :~( I think I'll sell it back to my LSR and look for a sealed or NM copy. It's a really good record. I have it on CD, but wanted to get the vinyl.
Humble Pie - "Rockin' the Fillmore"
Last of the Plaid Room Records haul.....
Midnight Oil - "Diesel and Oil" - again.......
The Moody Blues - "In Search of the Lost Chord"
Sweet - "Desolation Boulevard" |
Keith Richards - "Talk is Cheap"
30th Anniversary Edition on 180G Wine Red Vinyl............ |
@slaw - Midnight Oil's "Diesel and Dust" is fantastic IMHO. Also has great SQ for an 80's album. Surprised I never hear mention of it. |
Midnight Oil - "Diesel and Dust" Again! My most listened-to album of the last month. Love it...
@big_greg - I love
Steve Earle - "Transcendental Blues" and all of the Steve Earle records from that era. Some great stuff on those records. |
Finally back in town after 2 weeks working out of town. Sitting down to listen to a new (used) record that came in the mail while I was away......
Neil Diamond - "Tap Root Manuscript" |
Norman Greenbaum - "Spirit in the Sky"
Dave Edmunds - "I Hear Your Rockin'" - Live
@bdp24 - Nope, never saw Dave Edmunds. I don't recall ever seeing him tour near me, although I would not have been paying any attention to him back at the height of his popularity. Was more interested in stadium rock back then. |
@bdp24 - I missed out on seeing Rockpile live. I did buy the record at the time of it's release. I have seen Nick Lowe in a solo show (brilliant) and I've seen Elvis Costello (even more brilliant) several times. Seeing EC again in November. |
@uberwaltz - I agree with you about "Focus 3". I mentioned it a few weeks ago. Great album. I especially like the title track - "Focus III" and the fade into next cut - "
"Answers? Questions! Questions? Answers!". Great stuff. I didn't hear this back in the day when it was releases. Heard the title track on Radio Paradise and immediately bought the album. |
BoDeans - "Love & Hope & Sex & Dreams"
The Wallflowers - "Bringing Down the Horse"
The Tubes - "The Completion Backward Principle"
@tomic601 - "Gaucho" may be my favorite Steely Dan record. And the title track is definately in my top 5 favorite Dan tunes, and that's saying' something! Doesn't hurt that the SQ on the album is excellent too....
Bruce Springsteen - "Western Stars"
@big_greg - Focus - Focus 3. Fantastico!
Brandi Carlile - "By the Way, I Forgive You"
Pete Townshend and Ronnie Lane - "Rough Mix" |
Neutral Milk Hotel - "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" |
@slaw
Tom,
I love to see you so reinvigorated with music.
Well, I can't play hockey or ride bikes with my friends because, you know - quarantine. We'll see if it sticks once I'm turned loose...... In the meantime, I'm listening to music! |
Willie Nelson - "Always on my Mind"
Elton John - "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy" - From the End of the World to Your Town!
@uberwaltz - Sorry for your accident. Hopefully you recover quickly. Any stitches? |
