In honor of this thread's unofficial RUSH Gush week..........

RUSH - "Moving Pictures"

The drums and bass on the opener - "Tom Sawyer" are simply outstanding. And it carries through the whole record. Love it!
Keith Richards - "Talk is Cheap" - 30th Anniversary Limited Edition on Red Vinyl

Outstanding!

@slaw - Nope, don't have the OP. Don't know why. For some reason I bought the CD at the time of the original release, 30 years ago.
@tomic601 - Looks like you had a most excellent Record Store Day Day! I spent my day power washing the siding on my elderly parents home. Not as much fun as RSD...
@slaw - Dang, that's quite an investment. My meager record collection is not worthy.
@slaw - Let us know how it works out.

BTW, Courtney Barnett is playing here on July 1st. I'm out of town for a sailing trip in the Keys, so I won't be able to go. Saw here the past year in Milwaukee. She is proof that Rock is not dead......
@slaw - I thought you already had a proper record flattener. No? What did you have and what did you get?

BTW, I do not have a record flattener. I don't have many records in need. However, I did buy 2 copies of Kraftwerk - "Autobahn" from Insound that both came with edge warp, brand new out of the shrink......
@slaw  - OK, so I went back through the thread, to the beginning of the month, to see if I missed anything. I only found the following directed to me, to which I did not respond:

@reubent

Interesting that you mentioned Guy Clark. I just got in Steve Earle’s latest "Guy". Two artists that I don’t have enough of.

So, here's my late response. I like guy Clark and I'm a huge Steve Earle fan. I haven't heard "Guy" yet, but I'll give it a listen, probably stream it from Spotify first to see if I like it. I've been kind of lukewarm on the last few Steve Earle albums.
@slaw - Sorry if I missed something. Was out of town last weekend, but otherwise I've been around. I don't recall seeing an posts directed to me, but I may have just missed them somehow. Anyway, if I missed a response to you, my apologies.....
@slaw - I love "Long Misty Days", especially the title track. I love the drone in the middle. Classic......
Justin Townes Earle - "Nothing’s Gonna Change the Way You Feel About Me Now"

Also better the second time through.......
Re-listening to Guy Clark - "My Favorite Picture of You"

I like it better the second time through. May be because I was really tired the first time I listened to it.
@uberwaltz

Attitude
Catch Me Now I'm Falling
Pressure
National Health
(Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman
Low Budget
In A Space
Little Bit Of Emotion
A Gallon Of Gas
Misery
Moving Pictures

The Kinks - "Low Budget" is a blockbuster IMHO. Right on Brother! Ass kicking album from 1979.
Sorry, late to the party again.......

For anyone interested in Aviation, planes, or military equipment, the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, Ohio is probably the best aviation museum in the world. And it's FREE! (currently closed until early July). Fantastic museum.
@millercarbon - I like "Signals" well enough. But it's probably not in my top 5 (but certainly in my top 10). Some day I'll have to sit down and actually think about it and rank my top 10 RUSH albums.

No particular order, but these are some top contenders for me:

"A Farewell to Kings"
"Moving Pictures"
"Hemispheres"
"Permanent Waves"
"2112"

Sheryl Crow - "Tuesday Night Music Club" - Limited edition RSD Black Friday 180-Gram 2 LP Set on cool blue vinyl.

Underrated IMHO. I especially like the slow ones - "No One Said It Would Be Easy" and "I Shall Believe".
@millercarbon - Listening to RUSH - "Signals" now. Can't find my LP, so I'm listening via Spotify.

Solid album. I like "Subdivisions", "The Analog Kid", "Digital Man" and "New World Man" (The "hits" from the record). But I think my favorite track might be "Losing It". I like the song structure and the lyrics.
@uberwaltz - I can't disagree with you about that one! One of my favorite albums from possibly my favorite band. Love the whole record, but especially love the closer - "La Villa Strangiato".
The Jayhawks - "Hollywood Town Hall"

A Desert Island selection for me....... So Good
Jan Hammer Group - "Oh Yeah?"

Jazz/Rock fusion from back in my high school days........
Eric Carmen - S/T

Side one is pretty solid, but there are some stinkers on side two. I think it's going into my "for trade" pile.....
The Dave Brubeck Quartet - "Time Out"

Listening with my 15 year old son. He likes it!
Rush - "Roll the Bones"

Found a copy of the 2015 remaster on 200G vinyl on my record shelf. For the life of me, I can't recall buying this record and I had no idea that I owned it. Playing it now.

@slaw  - I have "Spirit in the Sky" and I really like it. Are the others as good IYO?

@spiritofradio  - Love that Patto album. Question: In the opener - "The Man" do you hear some background distortion/fuzz in the vocals and guitar? Can't tell if it is just my copy, which appears very clean and I don't hear it in the other tracks. I know "The Man" is the most popular track on the record, so perhaps someone played this track over and over and worn it out.

If you report no distortion, I may look for another copy as I LOVE this record and especially the opener - "The Man".

@uberwaltz -  White City:A Novel .... Pete Townsend

That is one of my favorites. Love every second of it. I originally bought it on CD. Later bought the LP. Ultimately I found a copy of the 12" 45 single of "Face the Face" live, from the movie - White City - A Novel. They are all very good, but the 45 is special.

Have you seen the movie? You can find it (in 2 parts) on YouTube. Heck, I even have the a VHS copy of the movie. Guess I'm a fan.....
@slaw - I think I enjoy "White City" more now, than back in the day when I first bought it....

Nice haul at the LRS. I stopped in my LRS today to trade a few records. I picked up the following:

Rush - "Presto" - Bought the recent remaster after listing to it a couple of times on CD and Spotify. The "favorite Rush album" thread took me there!

Concrete Blonde - "Mexican Moon" - 2017 Double LP release

Rare Earth - "Ma" - Original 1973 Motown/Rare Earth Records Release

I'm trying to go to the record store with a policy of taking more records to trade-in than I bring home. Things were getting out of hand and I was running out of room. I'm shooting for a max limit of 1000 LPs (or less) in the room at any time. Was getting dangerously close to exceeding that limit recently. I've done a pretty good job of culling/trading and I've got the number down by a couple of hundred.
@tomic601  - Good Luck Brother. I hope you have a fun and productive 2021.
