More Audio Envys?

One set of Audio Envy, probably to connect my phono pre with the pre-amp, and one set of Silnote via right here on the Gon. I received a Silnote digital RCA cable today (for my CD player to DAC) and am really impressed. So, got a set of Silnote IC’s to link my DAC to my pre-amp, and complete the ‘Silnote chain’ on the digital side.

Im thinking the Audio Envy will work well on the phono side.

Slowly replacing all the inexpensive Blue Jean IC’s I bought when deciding to get serious about 2 channel again. Also have a used set of Chord Crimson coming from the UK, and will probably use those from my Nak deck to pre. For the price, those Chord’s seem to have a real following.

Alain Lombard conducts Prokofiev - Concerto No 1 & No 2 for violin and orchestra. Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg w/Pierre Amoyal violin. Erato 1974 French pressing. Very nice recording.
@tomic601

I just ordered Motherland on vinyl:-)
 Dang, that would (will) undoubtedly sound wonderful.
@noromance

Johann Sebastian Bach ‎– Orgelwerke Bach-Orgel Der Schloßkirche In Lahm 1708-1744 (Telefunken 1975)

I have a couple of those Telefunken series releases. Mine are very very nice indeed.
@tomic601

@j_damon NPR had an interesting bit today on 50 th anniversary of American Beauty.... i found it cool anyway...

OK, now I do feel old. 😁
@melvinjames

Blue Mitchell "The Thing To Do"

How are Mitchell’s albums in your opinion? I’ve been tempted to try one out. I only know him from playing on John Mayall’s Jazz Blues Fusion LP. Liked his playing on that, but have always wondered what his own recordings are like.

I guess I could try Tidal ;-) Always forget I have that resource.
@tomic601

Brian if it helps a 25 year old Deadhead conducts the interview....,,

That just ain’t right 😁 I remember seeing the Dead in the mid-80’s at the Akron Rubber Bowl, with Bob Dylan, and Tom Petty opened. I looked around at all the young Dead Heads back then and thought I was in the twilight zone. Told myself, that was my last Dead show. But, did see them again a few years later during their 25th Anniversary tour.

24/25? Barley alive when Jerry died.

A Happy Belated New Years All!

Jim lead me to a rabbit hole, and am streaming ‘The Poll Winners’ final album. Barney Kessel, Ray Brown, and Shelly Manne. Found it on Discogs, a remaster, and now purchased. Very nice.

@sbank

@bkeske Probably the last poll that made any sense to me

😂

Unfortunately, the seller on Discogs cancelled the sale. Stated he was already sold. Damn. Perhaps Jim beat me to it 😁

Artur Rodzinski conducts Shostakovich - Symphony No. 5. The Cleveland Orchestra. Columbia Special Products 1977

Kiril Kondrashin conducts Shostakovich - The Execution Of Stepan Razin - Poem For Bass, Chorus And Orchestra, Op. 119 & Symphony No. 9 In E Flat Major, Op. 70. Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra. Мелодия 1977, USSR release

Andre Previn conducts Shostakovich Piano Concerto No. 1 & Poulenc Concerto for Two Pianos. New York Philharmonic. Columbia Masterworks 1962.

Wonderful LP.
@j_damon

@bkeske I was at that rubber bowl Dead show

If you remember, that was the tour Jerry became very sick during/after, and almost died. I knew something 'was up', as especially when Bob came out to sing with the Dead, something was 'off' with Jerry. Something didn't seem right, and IIRC, he wound-up in the hospital soon after that show.

Tom Petty got my attention; I do remember that.

Karajan conducts Shostakovich - Symphony No. 10. Berlin Philharmonic. Deutsche Grammophon unknown release date, Italian release, originally 1967

We Get Requests

Great album, unfortunately I have it on CD only.

Rose Bowl break….

Václav Neumann conducts Martinů - Symphony No. 1 & Inventions. The Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. Supraphon 1978, Czechoslovakian release.

@noromance

@bkeske A real irk of mine. I know many have LRS inventories but Discogs might look at penalizing them for this.

Yea, as the inventory is tied to his collection, you would think this should not happen. He said he searched for it, but could not find it, thinking it may have sold long ago. So @tomic601 is off the hook. 😁 I picked up another, but this time an original pressing.

György Lehel conducts Bartók - Scherzo For Piano & Orchestra / Kossuth / Scherzo From The Symphony In E Flat Major. Magyar Rádió És Televízió Szimfónikus Zenekara. Hungaroton 1982. Edition no. 2 of the Bartók Béla Complete Edition. Hungarian release

@tomic601

Brian this is the new release just out, archive stuff pre studio albums

Interesting. I’ll check it out.
Super Session w/Mike Bloomfield, Al Kooper, and Stephen Stills. Columbia 1970
@tomic601

Streaming the archive release of Joni - her voice is so clear

I have the European CD box set of her studio albums 1968-1979. If that is what you are referring to, it’s a great set, and I enjoy it quite a bit. Unaware how much remastering they did to each, but they all sound fantastic.

The Seeds - Falling Off the Edge. GNP reissue 1977.

This may have been a collection of music from their albums in the 60’s.
@tomic601

brian - ya man Crimson rocks !!!!

Yep, I can see why these are still sought out. I was a bit leery as they cost $70 shipped, but heck, that seems well worth it.

Gotta tell you though, the Silnote digital and IC cables I recently got made a really nice improvement to my digital from end for me as well. Really improved the sound quite a bit. No more ‘glare’, and much more musical. Really impressive cables.
@tomic601

Cleveburg ... I think it was Sunday nites they would play a featured album in entirety...

WMMS baby
13th Floor Elevators - The Psychedelic Sounds Of The 13th Floor. Radar Records reissue 1978
Szell conducts Debussy - La Mer & Ravel - Daphnis et Chloe: Suite #2, Pavane Pour Une Infante. Cleveland Orchestra. Odyssey reissue 1973, original 1963
Reiner conducts Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov - Scheherazade. Chicago Symphony. RCA Victor Living Stereo 1960
Yep, being in the architecture biz, there isn’t a lot to dislike about Shaker Heights.

But, getting older, the winters are not getting easier ;-)
M105 and MMS eventually became sister stations. But you are correct, M105 did play full albums. MMS did too, eventually.

ahhhh...back when FM radio was a big deal. Cruising in a van, getting high, listening to WMMS. The Buzzard reigned supreme by most in Cleveland.
The Haydn String Quartets Op. 3 & The Seven Last Words, Vol. 8 box set. The Aeolian Quartet. London 1979.
@spiritofradio

hey Brian, I’ve also been listening to Shostakovich No 1 - quite a bit lately - in heavy rotation as they say

I made a mistake posting that James. It was actually conducted by Bernstein, Previn played the piano in the Piano Concerto #1.

A really great recording given when it was recorded.

it has a mostly white background abstract painting on the cover. Well worth looking for IMO.  Columbia MS 6392.
@lewkor

John Mayall. Jazz Blues Fusion. Recordings of him on stage showing he is more than just a blues musician - incredible!!!

One of my all-time favorite albums.

welcome
Vaclav Neumann conducts Martinu Symphony No 2 & 6. Czech Philharmonic. Supraphon 1991 (?) Czech pressing.

Happy Sunday…..

The Sundays - Reading, Writing And Arithmetic. Geffen/UMSM reissue 2018, originally 1990

Just received a large batch of ‘new’ LP’s today. Long day, worked late, but finally having a chance to relax.....and listen.
