@slaw The short songs keep it moving right along! Disc 1 has 9 & 10 songs of older stuff, maybe kept short to fit on 45rpm’s and jukebox discs? Interesting observation Steve, I agree radio probably had time limits too. I had never heard about S&G listing a track that way, funny!

Bus Boys / Minimum Wage Rock & Roll
1980 Arista

The lyrics are at times a hoot, nothing “minimum wage” about the music.

The Isley Brothers / The Heat Is On
1975 T-Neck

Soul, funk and rock rolled into one. Nice SQ. “Hope You Feel Better Love” gets rockin’!

Motown  Collected
2021 MOV

Fun compilation, SQ varies. White vinyl—cute.  Back cover shown.

The Cars / Heartbeat City
1984 Elektra

You said it Steve!

@slaw "Heartbeat City" f.   Ing awesome!!!!

Steely Dan / Pretzel Logic
1974 ABC

Playing through my Dan LPs, do I ‘need’ UHQR reissues?  So far, quiet vinyl and wonderful SQ especially on “Thrill” and this LP so likely not. Four more LPs to go, shouldn’t be a hardship listening to this band’s great music.

Spirit / The Best Of Spirit
1973 Epic

Good idea @nicks25, some great rock ‘n roll here. Nice SQ.

The Byrds / The Byrds Greatest Hits
1967 Columbia

Great songs, wish the sonics were too.

Tommy James & The Shondells / The Best Of
1969 Roulette Records

The SQ on this old LP is stunningly good, surprising for a compilation or a vintage issue. Killer song selections, kinda requires playing both sides. 😎

I think I read (speaking of hazy) the LP reissue will be pink, we’ll see. Today’s spam mail said it’s only out on SACD for now.

Nice playlist James!
About Animals, I have just 1 copy—1977 Harvest French import in pink vinyl—it sounds really good but not ‘audiophile’.

J.J. Cale / Troubadour
1976 Shelter

So nice, interesting instruments and sounds with great SQ.

John Lennon / Walls And Bridges
1974 Apple

A fabulous album, sans Ono (we’re good with that) but with a long list of fellow musicians. Of course there’s “#9 Dream” and “Whatever Gets You Thru The Night”, but what about “Old Dirt Road”?

Hello @bdp24, that Leon Russell LP is like comfort food to my ears, it’s been played so many times it’d be hard for me to be without it. Enjoy!

Gregg Allman / Laid Back
2015 Analogue Productions RE, orig. 1973

Fabulous SQ on this AP reissue to match the musical content. Quiet vinyl.

Dan Fogelberg / Souvenirs
1974 Epic

Produced by Joe Walsh who contributed along with Eagles members and others. Nice production and SQ.

@slaw @big_greg
Hadn’t played in a long while, better than I remembered. Especially “Naked”. Thanks for mentioning Steve!

The Joe Jackson Band / Beat Crazy
1980 A&M

Great cover art, music, sonics.

Talking Heads / Naked
1988 Sire

Many guest musicians here including Johnny Marr (guitar on 4 cuts) and Eric Weissberg (pedal steel guitar, dobro), most known for his banjo solo in “Dueling Banjos”. Nice SQ, more of a “worldbeat” style than More Songs About, Remain In Light.

Art Pepper / Art Pepper meets The Rhythm Section
1988 Fantasy remaster, orig. 1957

@td_dayton

+1 on Badfinger
Favorite song: Name Of The Game. @slaw turned me on to a cover by Susanna Hoffs, with Aimee Mann. So good, worth a stream if you can. Cheers!

Neil Young / Harvest
1972 Warner Bros.

Terrific content, fidelity, typical outstanding Neil Young recording. Backed by The Stray Gators, The London Symphony Orchestra and appearances by other familiar names. Often called his signature album.

Linda Ronstadt / Greatest Hits Volume Two
1980 Asylum

Nice song selections, surprising good SQ.

The Jim Carroll Band / Catholic Boy
1980 ATCO

If the first cut doesn’t get you out of the chair with your air guitar, check for a pulse… 😎

Fleetwood Mac / Future Games
1971 Reprise

One of those records where you wanna play both sides like I just did. Great SQ.

Fleetwood Mac / Rumours
2009 Reprise RE, orig. 1977 Warner

Another fabulous LP, content and sonics that are really off the chart. An earlier post I commented on the freaky cover art on Heroes Are Hard To Find. This cover seems less odd, but hold on— What the hey is hanging from Mick’s crotch??!! LOL!!

Grateful Dead / American Beauty
2003 Warner Bros. 180g RE, orig. 1970

High Fidelity is back, just a great record! The cover is an ambigram, does it say “American Beauty” or “American Reality”?

Rolling Stones / It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll
1974 Rolling Stones Records

Great music, sonics could and should be better—maybe it’s my copy?
