Hey @bdp24 that’s great to hear you’re local.  Pretty nice around here this time of year isn’t it.

I think the local chain you’re thinking of might be Everyday Records and I agree that they're not that great.  The Everybody’s Records I had in mind is different than the one in Vancouver and sadly is a thing of the distant past now.  It was in Portland’s Montavilla neighborhood.  A little less eclectic than MM but new records there were each about a dollar less than at MM.  Anyway, I have great memories of the place, in large part because of the most excellent and amazing speakers they had suspended in a large array above the checkout desk.  They sounded so good and were our reference for comparison for years.  Nowadays though it seems like nearly every record store has crummy speakers and equipment. Why I don’t know.  You’d think they’d sell more records if the music coming from their systems was better.

I’ve seen those Fremer vids too.  The co-op over on Foster where they went same day as MM, Crossroads Records, is pretty awesome. Like having all of Discogs under one roof and no postage...I think there are about 40 vendors total.  But Millennium is still my favorite, both for the reasons you mention and for the many pleasures I’ve found there for going on 50 years now.
@bdp24

that’s curious and maybe frustrating, my “granite” vinyl op of alone together sounds terrible.  I call it my most favorite worst sounding album.  Maybe it’s just worn out...

are you in Portland too?  MM my current favorite store.  Are you old enough to remember “Everbody’s Records?

Hey Waters!   Three Man Army! Far out!  Terrible band and I absolutely love it.

wow, I feel like I must be alive but in a different universe. Never heard any of that music. Where am I?

I am shamefully ignorant, so I checked all of these out (except one I couldn’t find).  This is all pre music history to me.  (I was young and very sheltered...). Great stuff on that list. I especially liked the Knightsbridge.   What ever happened with them?

This is such a great record and I need to replace it with a better copy.
Listening to UFO’s “No Heavy Petting” now for about the millionth time - MS at his best perhaps - I’m again struck by how great it is to listen to complete albums, or sides at least.  Skipping cuts cuts out the artists’ art but sometimes also cuts great notes tucked into the bridge or solo or somewhere in a less than favorite cut.  An attention span that fits only favorites is an unfortunate phenomenon in the dissatisfaction of the digital shuffle.

“I’m a Loser” is not on the best of list but has an absolutely beautiful solo near the end.
Well @slaw we don’t agree on everything but I do consider your taste in music to be real fine bro.

Great stuff @bdp

@oldbear, glad you like them. The Palumbo solo album is weird and wonderful in how well it aligns with my frame of mind.

Nice playlist btw, where do recommend starting with Latin quarter?

ITTOD was issued in the beginning with about 6 different (A-F?) sleeves but all inside a relatively plain brown wrapper so you couldn’t tell which one was inside before you bought it.  The sleeves varied by a little (angle of swipe of transparency across a photo filter ) to a lot (position from which the photo was taken in a strange cluttered mythological pub).  There may be other differences known to collectors (like objects moved around or in and out of the different photos). I only have the one version.  By the way, “Fool in the Rain” is a lifelong favorite. (I live in Portland...)

New Issue arrived from Ambient Links this week.

Side one is really nice so far. Taking me 15 minutes to write this cause I’m listening to the sweetness.
