Continuing my assault on my Blue Oyster Cult collection - "Spectres" |
So the Blue Oyster Cult Album - "Agents of Fortune", side 1 was fantastic. Good songs, including the classic "Don't Fear the Reaper" and the sound quality was pretty fantastic. Side 2 was just the opposite. Bad songs, flat sound. Sounded like 2 completely different albums. Funny, I've listened to the record many times, 35+ years ago, and never noticed the crappy side 2. Perhaps we never flipped the record over..........

Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush - "Live"
Just arrived today via USPS, from Romania, after being ordered about a month ago via Discogs:
Elvis Costello - "All This Useless Beauty"
Music on Vinyl, 180 gram audiophile vinyl pressing. New, sealed. Sounds great and easily superior to the OP CD I also own.
Last one tonight........
Manfred Mann's Earth Band - "Watch"
@6t5-gto - Cool. I never saw Frank Marino either. But based on the record, I bet it would have been a good show.
On the TT now:
Allan Holdsworth - "Metal Fatigue"
Yes - "Going for the One"
Just arrived via USPS this morning. Nice, clean original pressing.....
Neutral Milk Hotel - "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" |
Matthew Sweet - "Girlfriend" - MOV |
Neil Diamond - "Beautiful Noise"
Came in a "gifted box", of records, so I feel I should at least listen to it once. Based on the first 3-4 tunes, once will be enough for me....

Flash and the Pan - "Early Morning Wake Up Call" |
Derek and the Dominos - "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs"
Imelda May - "Life. Love. Flesh. Blood"
Robert Cray - "Strong Persuader"
The Moody Blues - "Octave"
Shovels and Rope - "Swimmin' Time"
The Alan Parsons Project - "I Robot"
Emerson, Lake and Palmer - "Trilogy"
The Kings - "Are Here"
IMHO, the Combo of "This Beat Goes On" and "Switchin' to Glad" is one of the best party anthems ever!
The Tubes - "What do you Want From Live"
One of the best live albums EVER! Seriously, EVER!
Tears for Fears - "The Hurting"
@uberwaltz - I had Thomas Dolby - "The Golden Age of Wireless" in my hand yesterday and put it back. Later saw your post. I wonder how many people in the World played that record yesterday? Anyway, instead of copying you, I pulled out Thomas Dolby - "The Flat Earth" and I'm giving it a spin. Don't think I've listened to it in more than 30 years.
Pete Townshend - "White City - A novel" |
Sweet - "Desolation Boulevard"
@n80 - I love "White City". I bought the CD when it came out and recently bought the LP. I also found a 12" 45 single of "Face the Face", plus the live version of "Face the Face" from the "White City" movie. The sound quality on the 12" 45 is really good.
Have you seen the short movie of Pete Townshend's "White City"? You can find it on YouTube (in 2 parts). Worth an hour to watch, if you like Pete Townshend.
Luna - "Penthouse" - RSD Exclusive, limited edition.
The Cranberries - "Everybody Else is Doing it, so Why Can't We?" |
The Smithereens - "Especially For You"
Jethro Tull - "Songs From the Wood" |
Rainbow - "Down to Earth"
After listening to this one, honestly, I can't figure out why I bought it. No redeeming qualities IMHO. "Ever Since You Been Gone" is OK, but the rest is pretty weak. It's going into the "trade" pile.
@fishf1 - Welcome to the thread and to AudiogoN!
Wire Train - "In a Chamber" |
The Power Station - "The Power Station" |
XTC - "English Settlement" |
@slaw - Thanks for playing! The $12.99 was The Doors. The $1 record was Van Morrison.
BTW, I got in my orders from InSound. What a haul. I'll list them sometime soon. Bought more than I should have, but at 60% off, couldn't resist. One of them is the 3 LP set of EmmyLou Harris - "Wrecking Ball" that you mentioned a while back. I only had it on CD previously, so I'm looking forward to spinning it.
The Doors - "The Doors"
Picked up used from my LSR this morning.
@slaw - Nope, I don't have any other Roxy Music or Bryan Ferry. I'll give it a listen on Spotify to see if I like it enough to invest my hard earned $5, or so.....
Van Morrison - "Wavelength"
Just back from my weekly (or is that weakly?) trip to my LRS. Pick up the following, all used. Priced $1-$12.99. Care to guess which one was $12.99 and which one was $1?
Jethro Tull - Heavy Horses Weather Report - Heavy Weather Pretenders - Pretenders Roxy Music - Avalon Supertramp - "...famous last words..." The Doors - The Doors Van Morrison - Wavelength
Will be spinning these today through the weekend. Hope none of them go into the "to trade" pile.......
The Pretenders - S/T
Wow! What a great album.
Roxy Music - "Avalon"
Part of the used record picks from my weekly LRS run.
Jethro Tull - "Heavy Horses" |
@slaw - I only own one copy of "Brothers in Arms" and it is the MoFi 45RPM 2 LP set. Definitely an Audiophile record, and very good. Although I do find remastering a single LP into a 2 LP set is a PITA because I have to get up to turn it over twice as often. I'm lazy that way....
Weather Report - "Heavy Weather"
Picked up a really clean used copy at my LRS today. It's great to hear "Birdland" on vinyl, the way it was meant to be heard. Fantastic!
@uberwaltz - How's that album from The Trews? I saw them open for Dada a couple of years ago and they were GREAT live. I've listened to a few of their albums and liked many tracks, but found them inconsistent. I could make a great, rocking compilation from my favorite tracks from The Trews. |
@slaw - I'll have to get back to you regarding the sonics. Haven't listened to it in a while. But I remember it being pretty good. Well, at least the tracks I listen to. I typically skip the first few tracks. I find the second half of the record more to my liking.
Supertramp - "...famous last words..."
The last from my weekly record store run...
