@boxer12 - We tied the hockey game 3-3. Went into sudden death OT, 3 on 3, but no score. I'll take the tie. Keeps my team in first place in our division....

BTW, I'm a huge fan of Adrian Belew. Love Lone Rhino, Twang Bar King, Young Lions, Mr. Music Head, Inner Revolution and The Acoustic Adrian Belew. I've seen him here in Cincinnati many times playing with The Bears and also playing as Adrian Belew, with Psycodots playing as his backup band. Always a great show.
Julie London - "Make Love to Me"

I just pulled this out a a crate of records that was gifted to my from my wife's father. I am not familiar with Julie London, but I saw her name in the "best female vocalist" thread and I thought I would check it out. The copy I received is in outstanding condition, considering it is from 1957. The sound quality is very good and the vocals are excellent. The type of music is not really my cup-o-tea. But I can imagine it was fairly risqué in 1957.
Roger McGuinn - "Back From Rio"  -  An outstanding album from Roger McGuinn and featuring some fine musicians, including Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Elvis Costello, David Crosby, Chris Hillman and more.

Almost a perfect album, but marred by one incredibly bad song - "Car Phone". Otherwise, a fine choice for a Desert Island album.
Vangelis - "Heaven and Hell" - Somehow I have two copies of this on my record shelf. Playing one tonight, trying to remember why I bought it back in the late 70’s/early 80’s. So far, half way through side one, I can’t say that I know what I must have been thinking at that time......

Edit - OK, the second half of the first side got MUCH better. Now I remember why I bought it. It's Jon Anderson singing "So Long Ago, So Clear". Of course, Jon Anderson singing almost anything is a treat......
@redchaser

Yea he really brought it on "Swingin'".. ;-)

Yes, yes he did...... ;~)
Hooters - "Nervous Night"

Funny, I’ve owned the album for 30+ years and I always thought it was The Hooters - "Nervous at Night". Actually just read the cover tonight for the first time....

Edit: According to Hooters, "You Can't Get Blood From a Stone". just saying..............
Steve,

Mine is the Abby Road Half-Speed Master. Black OBI Strip and all. I think it's really good. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts once you receive it.
Son Volt - "straightaways" - 20th Anniversary Edition - Record Store Day Exclusive
The Bears - S/T

Adrian Belew + Psychodot = The Bears

Local heroes from Cincinnati, OH. Adrian is well know as a guitar virtuoso. Psychodots may be one of the best bands that never made it big.
YES - "Tormato"

I haven't spun this one in years. I enjoyed it much more than I expected. I saw the "Yes-In the Round" Tour shortly after this record was released. It was awesome!

Lunchtime Luna listening........

Luna - "Penthouse"

Record Store Day - 180G 2LP Limited Edition
The Alarm - "Declaration"

In memory of there show that I saw earlier tonight. Awesome!
Big Star - "Radio City"

Still feeling it out. I think this is my 3rd/4th time through. Somehow I feel I should enjoy it more, but it hasn't really struck a chord with me yet.
@boxer12 - I love "A Farewell to Kings". Enjoy it...... Mid-Period RUSH is some of my all-time favorite stuff.
@boxer12 - I love "Hold Your Fire". IMHO, it's pretty solid, all the way through. It is more pop'y than most of the RUSH records before it, but I think many of the songs are very good. If you liked the style of songs like "Limelight" and "The Big Money", you will probably like it. It's certainly worth a listen.
The Teskey Brothers - "Half Mile Harvest"

Pre-ordered last week and it just arrived today. Really good stuff.
Elvis Costello - "Spike"

Just arrived from a Discogs order. Was listed as a NM-, but I'm disappointed in the SQ. Too many ticks and pops. Doesn't sound NM- in my book. I may send it back. I love the album, but this one doesn't meet my standards.
@16f4 - I looked through my record collection last night and found 4 copies of "After the Gold Rush". I should be covered......... :~)

The copy I played last night I received as a bonus with another record I ordered. It's an older copy, maybe an original/early pressing. It was covered in dust/fibers, so I ran it through the Spin-Clean. It came out clean as a whistle and played really nicely. I think I'll do a little homework on the copies I have and cull out a couple of them. I may end up keeping the new freebee as it played really well.
@mukiwa - Thank you for your reply. I am considering an upgrade to my record cleaning process and I'll take your comments under advisement.

Regarding my copy of "Spike", it has some visible scratches, etc., so it may never be "good enough". I'm considering sending it back due to "not as advertised/graded". When I received it, it looked pretty good, but it was covered by some type of fibers, like fine carpet fibers. Once I ran it through the Spin-Clean, the defects were visible.

I like the record enough that I just may buy a sealed one since it is not an expensive record at this point.
@slaw - I've listened to The Teskey Brothers LP a couple of times. Pretty good stuff. I wish the first album was available on LP and not just as a digital download. It seemed like a more interesting album to me. I'm going to go out to Bandcamp and listen to it again, to confirm those thoughts.

Happy Weekend!
@slaw - I'm talking about The Teskey Brothers S/T album that is on Bandcamp. When I looked for it on vinyl, I could not find it.
Chicago Transit Authority

Holy Cow! I hate to admit it, but I’ve never owned this album and never listened to it in it’s entirety. Solved that problem with a nice used 1970 issue I picked up at my LRS yesterday for $3.99.

Man, oh man, what a trip! I can’t believe how good this album is. Has to be considered up there with some of the All Time great rock records......
Big Star - "Radio City"

Giving it another whirl to see if it strikes a cord. So far, through 3-4 listens, I think it's enjoyable, but not Earth shattering.
