Champagne Jam .... A.R.S.
mfsl 1-038.
Really, really, really good...... lol |
Slaw. i have discovered SO many new artists/ albums by streaming that I otherwise would never have heard. Ones that I really like I then go search for the vinyl if it was released in that format. The ones I am undecided on I just keep in my favorites until they either grow on me enough to buy or I decide nope not for me and hit delete.
Streaming will not and could not replace vinyl replay ever!! |
|
Thanks Slaw..
Don't see many mentioning Panorama but I quite like it.
Brian.
Now you can see how good mono can sound. I have a mono switch on my amp so can play a mono album with a stereo cart but it pales next to playing a mono album with a true mono cart imho. |
Reubent...... Cannot say as I recall hearing you mention Tomorrow previously but tonight must be my night.
I have that one too... bought a long time ago from a bargain bin somewhere.
Probably best cut on it is the aptly titled “ hallucinations “.
Darn, going to have to drag it out now.....
Maybe I need to buy lotto........ |
Reubent Try the early stuff, after Fourth they were increasingly Jazz/fusion leaning.
While searching for Tomorrow came upon this first, had to wipe the dust off....
Forever Changes ..... Love. |
The Manhattan Transfer Live.

Just for clarification, my copy of Arzachel is the 2002 UK reissue. Still well worth a $1!
I see what you mean by the OP being spendy at $300+! |
Spirit. This may be of interest or you may already have it.
Arzachel S/T.
If rumours are true it was recorded in a cavern in the Ukraine. I sort of doubt it as it just doesn't have that echo and reverb heavy vibe one would expect.
Anyway it's pretty neat and features Steve Hillage. |
Yes it is Brian Played albums 1 and 2 tonight. Only 10 more to go! |
Spirit and Reubent.
Both Arzachel and the Beck/Hammer group were $1 bin dive finds.😂😂.
But it was your mention of that album Reubent that made me pick it up when I saw it.
Arzachel was just a weird name so I googled it first then thought, yep it's worth $1... Lol. |
Jeff Beck with the Jan Hammer Group Live |
|
Change of pace.
For Everyman. ...... Jackson Browne |
Highway 61 Revisited ..... Bob Dylan.
Original Columbia Mono recording.
Actually very very good indeed! |
Jim The Lyra SPT is out of bounds for now until I figure it out.
I am sure you would be a very worthy custodian of the Karat indeed.😁 |
I have the Onzow as well, use that every side and the ME about every 4-5 days. Doubt I have any blutac but worth buying to try.
However Jim I like the sound of option #4...... Do I just make an effigy of the Scheu and stick pins in it ?
I do have a collection of effigy's I will admit, MC, GK, DT...... |
Breakaway .... Art Garfunkel. |
Great album there, Simao.
Ponty was on my tt only two nights ago.
One year ago I never would have thought I would listen and enjoy that type of music but jazz/fusion has got a good grip on myself right now. |
In City Dreams ..... Robin Trower |
Well it did not take long to end up with another turntable... lol.
In my defense I just wanted to set up an inexpensive mono system.
I bought an old Dual idler drive 1215 which will handle both mono and 78rpm so killing two birds with one stone. The use of Ortofon 2m Mono cart with both the Mono and 78 stylus should work out really well.
Plus I previously owned a Dual 1019 and have a fairly good idea on what makes these tick, the task at hand will be to resist temptation and not go crazy with it!

@slaw. Quick question on filters. How often do you have to change the filter in your setup? I am using a fuel filter but it became totally clogged up after just 5 or 6 pass through. Guess there was a lot of grunge on those records... lol |
Late Nite .... Neal Schon |
Rough and Ready .... Jeff Beck Group |
Blow by Blow ..... Jeff Beck |
Pictures at an Exhibition .... E.L.P. |
As far as cleaning. i do not even give a cursory wipe down prior to us cleaning and I do not have a pre steam set up. so depending on dirt level it all goes in the tank....lol and some of those $1 buys were really dirty....
maybe the fuel filter is a bit too tight and I need look for something a little looser, going to have to give it some thought. |
|
Indiscreet .... FM.
British AOR. |
Spirit i have streamed some Flash but do not own any records of theirs atm. Yes it is up my alley so to speak. |
Slaw I knew someone had something for cleaning stylus. Will have to research that Flux sonic cleaner as was thinking it might need ultrasonic cleaning to clear it up. |
Eric The Thorns is on lp as brother Slaw has it but it’s not common or cheap nowadays unfortunately. About $40 for vg on Discogs is cheapest I saw. |
Streamed some of GOWV this morning on Qobuz. Cannot say as it moved me overmuch.....
Heat in the Street .... Pat Travers Band |
|
Careful Slaw... big dollar item there!😉😉
|
The Hunter ...... Joe Sample |
Can’t Hold Back .... Eddie Money |
Slaw.
that is true, I have mellowed into jazz/ fusion but country/rock still eludes me.
cant like everything... lol |
|
Spirit Interesting you call Portland strange...lol.
Spent a lot of time there and Vancouver for both work and pleasure. It is still near the top of my list for possible retirement location although of late both South Dakota and Montana have edged it out a little. And then there is Washington, Tennessee, South Carolina....... Need the right Powerball numbers!
On another note..... the very nice post lady dropped of two records for me both sealed NOS Uriah Heep items, Demons and Wizards and High and Mighty. Still going to run them through the US cleaner before playtime though. |
My retirement requirements are very modest TBH.
A minimum of 25 acres, property in the middle. Full razorwire perimeter with fully automated gun turrets every 100ft. Not too much to ask for...... |
Well 25 acres is doable in like Tn or SC or even the swamps of Florida! However for the northwest I might have to move the decimal point a bit... Like 0.25 acres....maybe...... Hey will save on cost of razorwire though!
Slaw Think I have had my share of humidity over the last 20 years here in Florida! The northwest does call strongly as similar to the homeland weather wise, miss true seasons but also do not miss snow whatsoever! So northeast is never going to happen even if could afford it! |
Sorry Slaw. New to me on that one.
Figured you had lost track of time with all the good morning when it was after 2pm east coast. Mind that worked for spirit and Tomic and the west coast rowdies! |
Tomic
As I said... I need those Powerball numbers to realize my desire... Lol.
May have to skip the gun turrets otherwise....😇😇 |
@noromance . Never heard the High & Mighty album but had to have it at the price for NOS and it was a gap in my Heep collection.
Looking at my racks I think I need buy another one as not much room left to squeeze many more albums in...... |
Maybe I'm missing something but I really don't see much similarity between Asheville and Portland? Both wonderful places but very different vibe and feel to them? 🤔🤔 |
E.C was Here .... Clapton |
But back to reality.....
Warrior.... Scandal. Pop rock but always liked it myself.
Slaw. North Carolina discounted itself by taxing every vehicle every year.... Lol. |
Slaw. Mullins “hit” was Lullaby.
The three got together and made one album, toured a little in support of it 2002/3 then disappeared as fast as they arrived. Odd, will stream it later as might be something I would listen to. |
