This is quite good. 

The Air and Space Museum is incredible. Last time I went I spent 3 days. Hadn’t been there since I was a kid with my brothers and father prior.

Can’t say I have a favorite, except they do have the KC-97 on display, which is a sentimental fav as my father piloted one in the Air Force with SAC.

I did go over to the hangers the last day though, and was most interested in Trueman’s DC-6 Air Force One. Man was that baby tight as opposed to today’s AF1.

I have a Schubert cycle of Shubert on CD by Anima Eterna Brugge, but wanted one on vinyl, so tried this. Thus far this set kicks butt, and is in absolutely wonderful shape. Happy boy ;-)

One of a few ‘new’ albums I received today. This is one I didn’t even know about prior.

** The Modern Jazz Quartet - The Modern Jazz Quartet & Orchestra. Atlantic, originally released 1961, this is a reissue, probably from the late 60’s to early 70’s given its label.

I have Three Windows, also with orchestra, but this is also very interesting, and much earlier. Gunther Schiller conducted the orchestra on all but one (and composed side two - ‘Concerto for Jazz Quartet and Orchestra’), that was conducted by Werner Heider. No mention on who the orchestra was, exactly.

Nice addition to my MJQ collection.

Played my old copy of Aoxomoxoa a few days ago. Hadn’t listened to it in a long time, and figured it was going to be in pretty bad shape. But, lo and behold, it is still in pretty good shape. I always liked that album.

Leo Kottke - 12 String Blues. This, as it turns out, is now a somewhat rare and collectible album. Recorded live at the Scholar Coffeehouse in Minneapolis Minnesota in 1969. Picked it up cheap used in the mid-70’s. It’s now worth 15-20+x what I paid for it, and still in great shape.

@bkeske if you’re a Numbers Band fan (15-60-75), I received the remastered version (by Paul Hamann) of “Jimmy Bell’s Still In Town” on Exit Stencil records last week.  Excellent remaster of a live recording at the Agora (the Mistake was downstairs) in Cleveland on 16 June 1975.  They opened for Bob Marley and the Wailers.  You can purchase directly from the Numbers Band website.  The “Jackleg” LP is a Robert Kidney solo and also quite good.

Just caught this scrolling back today. Oh man, I might have to snag that. I have none of their recordings. Hard to believe these guys didn’t produce more and get more recognition. Excellant stuff. Thanks!

Life isn’t always fun Uber. I’m sure we have all been there, done that. I think the hardest for me was ‘watching’ my little brother suffer and die of cancer over a 9-12 month period. Talking to him everyday trying to convince him to fight a battle we all knew he would lose. It was harder than my grandparents, or father dying, as ‘it wasn’t suppose to happen’. And was really ‘close to home’.

My neighbor across the street, whom I knew for a long time died suddenly of a stroke this summer. I was shocked, and it made me think my own as well.

Thank goodness for music. It doesn’t cure a thing, but it sure helps sometimes.

Not sure why I bought this box, except it was cheap, and the vinyl is all in great shape. I think I have much of this separately already, but....on impulse...

Thanks for verifying that my SOTA ‘mat’ is actually built into the platter. I was confused thinking mine arrived without one, until I investigated further.
