Slaw. That really sucks but thankfully it looks like you got that behind you now and hopefully have some benefits heading your way pretty soon.
Out to Weldon, NC again on Sunday as our company have decided we need to get back to work. Probably a good idea as the internet is dangerous to my wallet. |
Styx S/T.
Not in the cull pile!
Like early Journey, very different from their MTV huge commercial period of success. |
Must be something in the air! I made a cull again last night, out went 11 albums, not much but I doubt I will ever play them again. This included 4 Stones albums all of which have terrible sq ( 3 live albums so not too surprising), couple Mike and the Mechanics, Rod Stewart etc.
|
Chain Reaction .... The Crusaders.
MFSL 1-010 |
Going for the One .... Yes.
Freshly US cleaned.
Find this Yes album is pretty much overlooked when talking about classic Yes stuff but I like it a lot. |
Slaw. mine-is the US version.
Tightly Unwound ..... The Pineapple Thief.
2x lp remastered. Really nice sq. |
Abraxas .... Santana .
mfsl yet again simply because it is just SO good. |
|
Slaw The Pineapple Thief are fast becoming one of my top go to modern prog rock bands along with Spockโs Beard and Riverside.
All great musicianship and nearly all superb recordings. As Spirit said, very easy to pick out instruments, not just a big mush of sound.
Think I have 8 of their albums on vinyl now.... lol |
As far as g4t1....... I just streamed some parts of it and not much different so it is likely the base master recording that is off a bit to start with. Its listenable but itโs not Fragile or Drama. |
Atlanta airport has never looked like this before... Scary quiet and empty. Be streaming all week from sunny Weldon NC ๐๐ |
My Nottingham Spacedeck came with a Shelter 501 mk3 Which was supposed to be a highly recommended combo. For whatever reason it just did not light my fire. Not sure how much difference between mk2 and mk3? |
Was suffering myself last night with a trapped nerve in my neck ,little better today but that is why I did not see your posts last night.
Really sorry on the passing of your faithful friend Jim, it hurts I know, watched two dogs pass and said no more.
Hopefully he is now chasing bones and sticks in the sky!
Take care my friend. |
The Innocent Age ..... Dan Fogelberg.
Near Mint +. Looks and sounds like never played. |
Yes Slaw.
Alive and kicking. Very tired though as up at 2.45am to fly home so be an early night tonight for sure. |
Zero Gravity .... Steve Bach.
MoFi Cafe L-376. |
The Tubes were a kick a$$ fun band, not sure I have all their albums but I have quite a number.
White Punks on Dope was a huge number in England...can't think why๐.
Slaw.
It's sounding freaking awesome right now brother! |
Brian Says he who just had to mount his new cart right away๐๐.
Same as me, not much patience once a plan is in motion!
Glad the Zephyr is sounding good.
I should have bought a Soundsmith when Slaw did at 50% off time! |
Musical Chairs ..... Sammy Hagar.
Before he had even thought about Van Hagar! |
Love Agenda .... Band of Susanโs. |
Leather Jackets ..... Elton John |
The Present ..... The Moody Blues |
Katy Lied .... Steely Dan.
MFSL 1-007 |
Slaw
i am really glad you said that about Katy Lied as I thought it surely could not just be me.
I would say my Cassette tape version has more life to it. Very subdued and lackluster all round. Good job I did not pay over the odds for it. |
The Grand Illusion ... Styx.
mfsl 1-026.
Much better! |
Daughter flying back from Hawaii today, be good to have her home again. Hopefully we can get to visit record store many times before she returns in August. |
Thanks for the link Spirit
Will stream it first to see what I think.
Tomic.
I was hanging onto my old Technics SL-10 as it was full auto and good for when I felt really lazy but it eventually went onto USAM and sold within 12 hours... go figure!
|
Holst The Planets by the London Philharmonic.
One of the few classical works I truly enjoy.
mfsl 1-510 |
Always been curious as to how we ended up with two so similar band names. Steeleye Span from England circa 1969 Steely Dan from USA circa 1972
Not truly similar music but at least both on the lighter side. Odd..... |
All Around My Hat ..... Steeleye Span.
mfsl 1-027 |
Tomic.
I gritted my teeth and went from four down to just one table. Course I bought more carts instead....... ๐๐๐ |
Spirit. I really like the sound of that tt from its description. And it certainly seems to be moving you so itโs all good. There is no snobbery or pretensions on this thread. lofi, midfi, hifi. ย Who cares.
Enjoy the journey and the music. |
Greg Well I did not sell ALL of them... Lol. Down to the only one I was using anyway, the Garrard just sounded so much more dynamic and lively than any of the others by far.
As a wise friend said.... You canโt unhear what you hear......
Besides I think we all know just having one will not last too long ๐๐ |
Added to Roon library Slaw! ๐ |
Sorry Slaw. No can help there my friend. Don't you hate wanting to spend money and can't! ๐ |
Does anyone have Music from Big Pink on mfsl? Is the SQ sweet? Considering buying but $55 or more so... |
Bigger than Both of Us....... Hall & Oates |
Today was a very good day indeed.
I was able to participate in my favorite sport of bin diving! Quite a good haul of Jeff Beck, Pat Travers, Robin Trower, Montrose, Grand Funk albums. Even some Clapton that I did not have. All getting a US clean first though. |
Chakster might have Tomic? He is the resident vintage mm cart expert |
6t5 and Slaw. I have one of the Dire Straits 45rpm mfsl and was hoping it would be something along those lines. Communique is the one I have. |
Slaw and 6t5.
Yes the mfsl is an old release and there are a few used copies around. The 2*45rpm is the 50th anniversary and can be had for less $$. Unless you want the slime pink vinyl version....... |
Song X .... Pat Metheny/ Ornette Coleman. |
Montrose S/T.
This looked like crap before a long us clean.
Sounds pretty good to me now.
Think a 2*45rpm version of Music from Big Pink is in the works.....
I do have a very good clean version that was part of a 3 lp box set with that, Steve Miller and Quicksilver Messenger Service.
Only ever seen that box set for sale once since I got mine. |
Tomic According to discogs, yes both are mono playback. |
Bridge of Sighs....... Robin Trower. |
Open Mind .... Jean Luc Pontyย |
Anybody who likes Tomorrow has to like Soft Machine as well.
Real easy to figure out their album titles......๐๐ |
Street Talk ..... Steve Perry.
You could easily rename this as a Journey album, nobody would be the wiser....... |
Spirit. I think I bought Axe Victim just for the cover art..... lol.
Never ever heard anyone else even mention Be Bop Deluxe here never mind play anything by them. Think I have three albums. |
Spirit.
Axe Victim has been in my collection for a very long time. I only have one other Be Bop album, Sunburst Finish.
Funny on costs, I have 7 albums in my โcartโ on Discogs ranging from $18 to $135. Not sure how many I will actually follow through with...... |
