Most ethical sellers will give you half of the resale value but will be very discriminating about what they take. Call a local record shop and have them come by, state they will have to take the good with the bad. Best wishes!
What to do with pre-owned vinyl?
Background: From ~1978 to 1991 I collected many100s of vinyl records. At least 50% were classical; the rest jazz, R&B, World music, reggae, gospel--maybe 1200 records total. A few of the classical LPs are likely collectable/valuable, but most fall below that threshold. I’ve had these LPs stored in boxes since 1991. It’s becoming obvious I'll never again have a TT set up to hear these records. BTW, I live in Goshen, NY.
Can anyone suggest a way for me to responsibly dispose of these LPs?
FYI, I’d be happy to give to a store or reseller for estimated value, or donate them for a charity write-off. Money isn't my biggest concern & I have no appetite for trying to sell them on my own.
I also have a ton of old/good audio gear in the same problematic state (stored by never to be used again)...but that’s another story for another day.

Anybody who has a collection of Vinyl where Classical is a large proportion there are a large Populus of enthusiasts across the Globe of this Source Material, this Genre has interested parties with substantial disposable income, they are very content with ownership of difficult to find recordings. More Importantly there are very very valuable pressings, where £300 - £400 - £500 is the common seen price. Then there are the £1K to £1.5K pressings that are sitting in a collection. I can't reiterate more, there is a time to draw on the Families Support and get a List of what Titles are owned first, and then more importantly get the EAN number matched to the Title. Approx' 8 Years ago I assisted a Widower by buying a few items her husband had in the remains of the audio system, a dealer had taken the main system at stupid monies, and was sure to do well. The Dealer also offered stupid monies for a Classical Vinyl Collection which was turned down. I passed on the same advice as stated above and at a later time was informed after only a short period of investigation LP's were found to have a Value not much different to the lower priced ones mentioned above.
