What to do with MG 1?

I have an original pair Magnepan MG 1 speakers that need to be restrung. Problem is that I have no use for them as original when finished. I was thinking of maybe using heavier wires and attempting to duplicate the Maggie woofers. Lots of great info on restringing but I can't find anything on attempting this. Has anyone tried or have any ideas?
