Many on Audiogon agree the 1970's was the best decade for popular music. Whether it was the quality of songwriting or the diversity of music. The decade also produced many unforgettable 1 hit wonders. My personal favorite is Afternoon Delight by Starland Vocal Band, what's yours?
Nobody mentioned yet.. but from my part of the world, hits like..
-Do That To Me One More Time (Captain & Tenille) -Please Don't Go (KC & The Sunshine Band) -Love Is In The Air (John Paul Young) -First Time Ever I Saw Your Face (Roberta Flack)
Are some that certainly made their marks during the '70's--while not exactly a one hit wonder, but.. Miss those great eras, the '70s & '80s.
-Funkytown (Lipps Inc.) -Le Freak (Chic) -Let's Groove (Earth, Wind & Fire) -I Love The Nightlife (Alicia Bridges) -You To Me Are Everything (The Real Thing)
Are few that will transport me right back to those fun filled groovy days.
Hi Ghosthouse, Yesss.. used to listen to the more up-tempo versions of William DV but, love both!
Another must share all time classic great soul of '70s.. -What's Going On (Marvin Gaye) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dzs1K3caXJk&feature=related
This one that has been mentioned earlier, but I particularly like this later live version.. -Fool If You Think It's Over (Chris Rea) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJ0IYHHzIN8
Johnnie Wilder Jr. before the accident and still with the band. One of their more popular hits.. -Dreamin' You (Heatwave) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZvc7hFGrdU&feature=related
