The Beta Band - "The Three E.P.'s"
Spotify |
Indigo Girls - "1200 Curfews"
Spotify |
This morning I'm exploring the band "Guadalcanal Diary" on Spotify. Was familiar with the band by name, can't say I ever listened to them. I must say, I like their sound quite a bit... |
Uber, give them a try. Pretty good stuff, IMHO. I'm just streaming their Spotify listings, starting from the top. I really like it. Not sure what to call it. They are a mid/late 80's band out of Georgia (USA Georgia) and have hints of Alt-Country, Post Punk, Rock and 80's Alternative. Works for me. |
Kathleen Edwards - "Hard on Everyone"
Spotify |
It's lunchtime and I'm streaming my Spotify Discover Weekly feed. I've discovered a lot of good new/unfamiliar music from the customized Spotify Discover Weekly algorithm. First song up this week is:
The Glands - "I Can See My House From Here"
Fantastic song. Added to my "discovered" playlist.
|
Phil Cook - "Great Tide" via the Spoofy Discover Weekly Feed.
Great newly discovered music....
|
The Suitcase Junket - "Pile Driver" on the Spoofy!
Great, innovative, interesting artist. One man band, singer/songwriter, with a fuzz guitar, a suitcase and a baby shoe. Check it out...... |
@uberwaltz - Try "Mountain of Mind" off of The Suitcase Junket Album - "Pile Driver" if you didn't get that far the first time. I think it's a great song and my favorite from the artist. Tell me if you hear this in it - Jackson Browne meets Bush.... |
@big_greg and All,
I streamed Ray LeMontagne - "Monovision" last evening. It didn't really do anything for me either. I did like one song - "I Was Born to Love You" and it is the only straight forward, bluesy cut on the record IMHO. For me, it always seems like he's trying to hard. "I was Born to Love You" is just a simple, straight forward bluesy cut and I liked it quite a bit. |
U2 - "All That You Can't Leave Behind" on the Spoofy. Love the album, don't love the SQ. |
@uberwaltz - I saw Larkin Poe open for Elvis Costello at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville a few years ago. I was shocked! I had never heard of them, and they were Awesome! They also played as the backing band for Elvis at that show. Fantastic!
BTW, going to see Elvis Costello and the Imposters at Taft Theater in Cincinnati tonight. |
It's Monday! Streamed my Spotify Discover Weekly. This week it was the Discover Weakly as no new winners in the bunch.
So now I'm streaming from my "Discovered" playlist. This is 220+ songs, over 15 hours, of songs I "discovered" through Spotify's Discover Weekly.
|
@uberwaltz - Unfortunately, I woke up with a stomach virus/flu that morning and was unable to go. It wouldn't have necessarily been the first time I got sick in a concert venue bathroom, but that's a different story, from a different time......
Really bummed that I couldn't go, but didn't want to go out in public with a fever and nausea. |
It's Monday. It must be my "Discover Weekly" feed on Spotify..... |
Read the "50 Best Albums of 2019" article in RollingStone mag. Trying to find any gems. On Spotify, Started at # 1 - Ariana Grande and I'm up to # 5 - Vampire Weekend, not a single gem yet, IMHO. I know Springsteen's - "Western Stars" is somewhere on the list, so it won't be a skunk, but looks like very few memorable moments in 2019.
Anyone got any recommendations for any memorable music from 2019?
|
@uberwaltz - Thanks. I'll check it out, but it didn't make the "50 best of 2019" list from RollingStone. I love me some Van.........
|
Patto - "Teachers" on YouTube.
|
Roxette via Spotify. RIP Marie Fredriksson.
|
Patto on the Spoofy.......
|
@big_greg - Right on Brother! Patto rocks...... |
Gil Scott-Heron - "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised"
|
Out running errands. Streaming the Alarm via Spotify through bluetooth in the TDI.
The Alarm - "Equals" - 2018 The Alarm - "Sigma" - 2019
|
At home, paying bills tonight (last time this year, yeah!). Listing to Radio Paradise stream. I'm letting Bill and Rebecca choose my music tonight..... |
Uber, great album - "This Desert Life" |
Icon .... John Wetton and Geoffrey Downes
Thanks @uberwaltz Never heard it before. |
@uberwaltz @big_greg - I agree. That string of Jackson Brown albums, including "Running on Empty", is fantastic.
|
Yes I am! A big fan. Love Spotify Premium for it's ease of use and selection. Sound quality on my main rig, using a high quality bluetooth receiver into my DAC, is good enough for my needs, and I love that it works across all of my devices. |
Jellyfish - "Bellybutton" and "Spilt Milk" on the Spoofy......
Great early 90's pop/rock band.
|
@uberwaltz - You are most welcome! That's what these threads are all about.....
@slaw - For me, streaming is for convenience, finding new music, and for listening to music I can't afford on vinyl. Case in point, look up the 2 Jellyfish albums I mentioned. Only a handful of both available on Discogs and eBay. Prices, about $70 - $1000. I would go broke buying all the vinyl I want.....
|
@slaw - I know. Didn’t intend to rain on your parade. Question for you: Do you stream at all? I know you have an impressively extensive vinyl collection. Where do you find new music?
Oh, and "Welcome to the Dark Side!" |
@bdp24 - Nope, never saw Jellyfish live. Heck, I never ever heard them back when they were together. The beauty of unlimited streaming is finding new music like this. Their 2 albums are so cool, I can't believe they did not make the big time.... |
@slaw - I admire your dedication to vinyl. Wish I could do the same, but lack the budget to do it right. Got too many other expensive interests that also need to be funded. Plus a teen son who is a new driver and is looking at colleges. My audio budget is going to be meager for a few more years......
May the (vertical tracking) Force be With You!
|
@slaw - You're welcome. You can send it to me as a finders fee..... ;~)
|
@uberwaltz - I'm going to stream the live album and check it out. As you may remember, Bogart's is here in Cincinnati. I've seen many shows there over the years.
|
It's Monday, so it must be my "Discover Weekly" feed on Spotify! A few nice selections this week, but the winner, IMHO, is:
Kyle Kraft - "The Rager" - Wow! What a song.
|
Lunchtime listening. Listening to Radio Paradise today, via their FLAC stream. I usually listen to RP on an iPhone. Haven't streamed from my laptop in a while. Went to RP website and clicked play. Was totally impressed by their new updated player. Looks awesome, with 4 total windows showing 1). controls, now playing and past play list, 2). Current selection information, with rating, etc., 3). User Comments and 4)., Wiki/Info about the song, album or artist.
The new web-based interface looks, and works, fantastic. Sounds really good too.........
|
The new Radio Paradise website is so cool, I'm thinking about connecting a PC to my big flatscreen TV and displaying the Radio Paradise web interface on the TV when I'm listening to RP. I've got the audio system, including a USB DAC, on the audio console right below the TV. Would make a nice multi-media system.....
|
Uber - Gratis would be fine. Thank you.......
|
I suppose free shipping too? If you insist, yes please....... Which one are you sending? I'll get a spot cleared for it. |
Guys,
Let me help you solve your situation. I'm in need (want) of a second TT. I can PM you my address......
|
I've been streaming Radio Paradise, in FLAC, most of the day today. Sounds awesome. I don't know what's going on, but it's never sounded this good in my system. And I'm streaming it via Bluetooth from my Laptop to an Auris BluMe bluetooth receiver, then coax out of the Auris to my DAC. Really sounds good today/tonight. |
@uberwaltz - Yep, people realized they were really good, at a great price, and started buying them up. Since they were discontinued the prices have continued to go up. New ones on eBay are about $100 or more. If you happen to see any at a good price, let me know. I would like to get a couple of them.....
|
@uberwaltz - You can put a Chromecast Audio, or two, in the box with the TT when you send it. Would like to try one. ;~)
They've gotten expensive......
|
Streaming my Spotify Discover Weekly feed. 4 songs into it, and no winners yet......
|
Jellyfish - "Bellybutton" and "Spilt Milk"
|
Nikki Lane - "Highway Queen"
Try "Send the Sun"
An artist I discovered via my Spotify Discover Weekly. I love Old School Country and Alt-Country. She combines them to great effect.
|
It's Monday, must be my Spotify Discover Weekly feed...... Pretty good week, but not nearly as good as last week. |
Listening to my Spotify Discover Weekly. Another good week!
|
Yep, Radio Paradise is fantastic. I've discovered a lot of great music there. And the sound quality is very good and the user interface is also great.
