What are you streaming tonight?

As we are in the modern age of music I thought I would see how this fares.
We have threads specific for cdp and tt so why not streaming as it is a modern media.
I don't care if you stream Tidal, Deezer, Spotify, Paradise Radio or any number of internet stations.
I would like you to share your tastes and method of streaming.

Joe Jackson - "Blaze of Glory" Album - Spotify

I picked up a sealed copy from a LRS in a batch of LP's that I paid 12 cents each for. Listening to it on Spotify to determine if I like it enough to break the seal, or just re-sell or swap it at another LRS still sealed.

So far, I like it. On the fence about keeping it, trading it or selling it.
@uberwaltz - Sorry, I miscalculated. They were actually closer to 15 cents each! I bought 80 hand picked records for $12. They had a sale on a few thousand records from their dollar bin. 4 for a dollar, but 2 free when you buy 4, so 6 for a dollar. Then they threw in a few freebies. I've traded off most of them for better records that I really wanted, including a couple of new LP's priced at over $30 each. So far, I've gotten $75 in trade credit and I kept about 15 of the 80. Pretty good run, but it took a lot of time cleaning, listening, cataloging, etc.
Was streaming my Spotify Discover Weekly playlist earlier. Didn't have a single real winner on the list this week. Bummer......

Now streaming Rush - "All the World's a Stage", cause I'm feeling too lazy to put on the CD.... I saw Rush on this tour, between the releases of "2112" and "A Farewell to Kings". EPIC! Especially for a 16 year old farm boy from Kentucky.......
Streamed my Spotify Discover Weekly playlist tonight. A day late for me. I usually try to play it when it comes out every Monday. Only a couple of winners this week...
@michaels36  - Welcome to Audiogon! And welcome to the "What are you streaming tonight thread". Keep 'em coming.......
@michaels36  - Never heard  Talk Talk - “The Colour of Spring” before. Streaming it via Spotify now. Really nice...... Thanks for posting it.
This morning I streamed my Spotify (Spoofy) Discover Weekly playlist. Picked up some great tunes (as usual).
@uberwaltz - Yep, I agree. I tried Spotify a few years ago and didn't like it. I put it on the back-burner and would occasionally use the free version when I wanted to preview a specific tune. Earlier this year, I finally subscribes to Premium and I've enjoyed it immensely. I find it very easy to use. The Discover Weekly push on Mondays has treated me to many tasty tunes that I had never previously heard, or some stuff I'd forgotten. HiRes would be a great addition.

Happy Weekend!
@uberwaltz - From Adrian Belew's "Young Lion", I like Bowie singing "Gun Man". It's classic Bowie vocals with classic Belew guitar. Great combination....

"Pretty Pink Rose" is a close second... ;~)

Happy Memorial Day weekend to you and to All.
@uberwaltz  - What did you think of "Equals"? I saw them on the Equals tour last fall, here in Cincinnati, and they were outstanding. I don't think "Equals" is the equal of their early albums, like "Strength", but its pretty good. At least a couple of catchy tunes. I ended up buying the vinyl (And a black concert Tee!).

I liked the show enough that I'm planning to travel to Nashville in July to catch them again.
Patto - S/T Awesome stuff that I just discovered. A little late to the party, but I love it.

On The Spoofy
I'm streaming my Discover Weekly feed from The Spoofy. Great stuff, as usual. Spotify's algorithm for compiling my Discover Weekly feed has been really good.
I don't have either Tidal or Qobuz for comparison. I listen on both my home HiFi system and also via earbuds and my phone. I find the sound quality to be perfectly fine, but I don't have any hi-res streaming service for comparison. You could always try the free version of Spotify to get a feel for sound quality.

I like Spotify. The user interface is pretty good and their customized Discover Weekly play list has been outstanding for me. I've also had several opportunities to compare Spotify's Library to Apple Music, and Spotify is far broader for my music preferences.
@uberwaltz - If liked "Surf City" and "Hold On" on the Crackology compilation, check out the original versions on the Self titled record - Crack The Sky. I like the original versions better, but I've also been listening to them for 40+ years, so I might be biased....
@uberwaltz

I think I like the first "Crack the Sky" S/T record the best. I feel it is consistently the best and it features John Palumbo who was a founding member and the original song writer and vocalist.

After "Crack the Sky" S/T, I like "Safety in Numbers". It contains the original version of "Nuclear Apathy", plus a couple of other great one.

For me, third would be "White Music".

@uberwaltz - Also, now that you have Spotify, check out this tune by one of your compatriots

Patto - "The Man"

Let me know what you think of it if you have a chance to give it a listen. It's kind of a rock, prog, jazz number, not really sure how to categorize it. But I like it. A lot! From 1970, but sounds way ahead of its time to me.
@uberwaltz - Welcome to The Spoofy! Let me know how you like Spotify. I know you were curious about the SQ. Let me know how it compares to your other streaming services. Spotify is the only one I pay for, so I'm curious to know how you think it compares to Tidal and Qobuz.

I do think their catalog is very impressive. I've rarely been stumped when searching for a song, artist or album.
I'm streaming my Spotify Discover Weekly feed. Right now, listening to Wiskeytown - "16 Days"
It's Monday. Streamed my Spotify Discover Weekly, via iPhone and earbuds while mowing the lawn. Great selections, again......
@uberwaltz - ........ and I'm likely to abandon you tonight! Listening to vinyl. Got "Western Stars" today. Giving it a spin on the TT.

BTW, did you Vette arrive yet?
Well, I half slept through "Western Stars" last night via Spotify. But I picked it up at my LRS today anyway. Had a bit of store credit and saw it sitting there.

Anyway, listening to it right now on vinyl and I like it. Definitely subdued, but I like it. Good SQ too. Very un-Springsteen-like.
I check out for a week of vacation, and the title to one of the threads I enjoy has changed. What gives?

I liked the old title. I participate in the "what's on your TT", "what's on your CPD" and "what are you playing" threads, as well as this "What are you streaming" thread. I liked keeping them separate. If not, we might as well consolidate on the "what are you playing" thread.

I'll still list what I'm streaming here. But I'm going to stick with the TT and CD threads for those forms of music media.

@uberwaltz - It's just confusing to me. When I stream music, nothing spins. Maybe I'm doing it wrong.  ;~)

Yesterday and today I'm working my way through my Sportify Discover Weekly. Missed a couple of weeks while I was on vacation. This weeks playlist has not been great, so far. Hopefully the second hour is better than the first...... Discovered one good track, so far....

Rich Robinson - "Oh! Sweet Nuthin' - Live"
Patto - "The Man" - Streamed via YouTube since it got removed from Spotify.......
@uberwaltz - I'm a big fan of Rare Earth. "Ecology", Get Ready" and, of course, the live album "Rare Earth In Concert" are 3 fantastic albums. I'll bet "Ecology" sounds great on the R2R.
@uberwaltz - Right on Brother! Listening to "Ecology" now on vinyl. I'm slumming with the vinyl as I don't have a fancy R2R to listen on............ ;~)

BTW, we have a local second hand store that has a bunch of unopened original R2R recordings. I see them advertise on Craigslist all the time. If I ever make it over there to take a look, I'll let you know if they have any good stuff for decent prices.
@uberwaltz - I just went through the brand new record - "Sigma" for the first time last night. It sounds very much like last years release - "Equals". I like both. I especially like "Two Rivers" from "Equals" and "Two Rivers-Reprise" from "Sigma".

I saw The Alarm - Equals Tour last year and it was fantastic. The new songs from Equals came off better live than they do on the album. I'm hoping I can make it to Nashville tomorrow night to see them again. I'll have a second chance to catch them on the Sigma Tour in Milwaukee or Cleveland later this summer.

That said, I like both albums, but I don't love them. Sometimes the lyrics seem a bit contrived and sometimes Peters seems to be trying too hard. Peters has been through a lot and it is impressive that he is still going as strong as he is. I just wish the songs held up a little better, like "Strength", "68 Guns", "The Stand" and "Spirit of '76" from back in the day.
@uberwaltz - How is "Tap Root Manuscript" on R2R? I have a crappy copy on vinyl and I'm hoping to find a much better one someday. I think it's a great album.......
Streaming my Spotify "Discover Weekly" feed for this week. First tune on this week's list is The Jayhawks - "Blue". Great start. Hope there are more gems on this week's list.
Hey @uberwaltz - You may already know this one, but if not..... Check out "Focus III" on the album called "Focus 3". It transitions right into the next track "Answer? Questions! - Questions? Answer!". Makes for a great prog album side. Listening to it right now on The Spoofy! I have the Double LP, but was already playing streaming DJ on Spotify, so I'm just streaming it tonight...
Elton John - "Rock of the Westies" via Spotify

Had the 8-track back in 1975. Haven't heard it in many years.....
The Alarm - "Equals" and "Sigma". Streamed in the car while driving home from a business trip to Milwaukee. Got lucky and The Alarm was playing in Milwaukee last night, so got to see them again. Fantastic live band, even today, nearly 40 years after their heyday. These 2 new albums fit right in with their classic stuff.
It’s lunchtime and I’m streaming Radio Paradise. You know, 'cause IT’s AWESOME! Streamed via an old iPod, through a Nuforce Icon iDo, to the DAC in my Rega Saturn-R. Sounds pretty darn good....
Spotify - Discover Weekly - Another great week, 2 hours of great tunes pushed to me. Some good stuff that I would have never heard otherwise.
@big_greg - That album from  J.S. Ondara - "Tales of America" is really good. Great story about the artist too.....
The Doobie Brothers - "Stampede" - Via The Spoofy - Can't believe I don't have it on vinyl. I love "Neal's Fandango"!
I listened to my Spotify Discover Weekly push last night. Very disappointed this week. Not a single keeper.
@uberwaltz - I love "Spike". EC is one of my favorite artist (seeing him again later this month) and "Spike" is in my top 5 favorite EC records. "Deep Dark Truthful Mirror" is an absolute classic song. Right up there with "1952 Vincent Black Lightning" in my list of best songs ever......
@uberwaltz - Elvis Costello has a rather large catalog of albums. I have different friends that like all, some and none of the catalog. One of my best friends, who has thousands of records, says "Imperial Bedroom" is his favorite record. For me, it's not in my top 5 list. So who knows what, and why people value particular records.

For me, my top three Elvis Costello Records are:

Spike
King of America
All This Useless Beauty

I'm not an aficionado of Nils Lofgren or Nick Cave. Give me some recommendations to check out. I only have the Nils Lofgren live acoustic record (which is fantastic).
Went to sleep listening to Revolver by the Beatles of all things last night!

@uberwaltz - There's hope for you yet........... ;~)
