What are you streaming tonight?

As we are in the modern age of music I thought I would see how this fares.
We have threads specific for cdp and tt so why not streaming as it is a modern media.
I don't care if you stream Tidal, Deezer, Spotify, Paradise Radio or any number of internet stations.
I would like you to share your tastes and method of streaming.

Steve Guttenberg specifically mentions Ike Quebec’s “Soul Samba” in this mornings video. I decided on “Blue and Sentimental” because it was in Hi-Res, but plan to get to “Soul Samba” later.
Nanci Griffith - From A Distance: The Very Best Of Nanci Griffith

A very nice retrospective of her body of work.  My very first alt-country love from my Austin days.
Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra - Mahler: Symphony No. 5

Qobuz Hi-Res

On another forum someone asked, “What sends shivers down your spine when you play it on your system?”. Several mentioned Mahlers Symphony No. 5, so even though I don’t listen much to classical music I thought I would give it a try.   Enjoyable

i agree with you both!  When I sold my records and leaned into streaming, I noticed two things:

1- I spent more time listening to music, instead of searching, buying, cleaning, inputting, etc, and

2- I listened to more music outside of my usual genres, e.g. I’ve been finding lots of Norwegian and Icelandic music that I’ve loved, as well as some Brazilian and Jazz stuff I haven’t heard in years.

Mathias Duplessy & the Violins of the World - Brothers of String

Yosin Horikawa - Vapor

Someone recommended listening to this on acid. I didn’t, but it’s pretty cool anyway.
Qobuz has a new playlist that they featured on there newsletter on Friday- Essential Debut Albums:Rock.  An eclectic selection of first album hits.
Tom Oren - Dorly’s Song

melvinjames, thanks for the recommendation!   Nice album!
Diane Krall - This Dream Of You

Vince Guaraldi Trio - A Charlie Brown Christmas

I love this time of year!  Not just for permission to listen to unapologetically upbeat Christmas music (lord knows we all need that now), but many critics release their “Best Of The Year” lists.    The New York Times posted theirs this morning, and I will be able to stream many of the ones I missed.
Some newish Jazz I missed  that made the NYT Best of 2020 list:

Jyoti - Mama, You Can Bet!

Immanuel Wilkins - Omega

That is a wonderful album.  I stumbled across the LP in a thrift store and fell in love with her voice.

Miles Davis Quintet - Cookin’

Bogbeat,
welcome to the forum.  I don’t have an opinion regarding your system.  I’m just starting streaming and more of a plug and play guy.  ( PowerNode 2i). I have enjoyed Qobuz immensely, and between them and some stuff I already ripped I am happy.

Tuck and Patti bring back fond memories. I just started dating this great woman, and she told me she really liked Tuck and Patti.  The next month they performed at the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA and I surprised her with tickets. Must have worked, because we’ve been married almost 25 years.
Indochine - The Singles Collection (1981-2001]

One of the nice things about streaming with a non-American company (Qobuz being French) is their catalogue has lots of artists and musicians that may not have been well-known in the US. I had never heard of this French group, but instantly liked their 80s new wave sound.
Charles Lloyd - Canto

Great soundstage, especially “Tales of Rumi”!
Re: Playlists, check out on Qobuz “Reggae From A To Z: Ska and Rocksteady”. Or the soundtrack to the documentary “Rudeboys”. Then watch Steve McQueens TV show on Netflix, “Small Axe”, set in Notting Hill, London around 1970.  Lots of great Ska and Rocksteady to get your groove going.
Berliner Philharmoniker - Beethoven: Symphony No. 9

Rarely listen to classical music, but thought a little would get me out of my rut.  Schillers Ode To Joy is ruined for me since Die Hard...which is NOT a Christmas movie.
Stanley Clarke - Halston original motion picture soundtrack

ZM thanks for the heads up.  Lovely album!
Sugar Creek - Please Tell A Friend

I digitized a significant portion of my vinyl collection using Wave Repair over the years.  Finally figured out how to play the files through my PowerNode ...
