What are everyone's thoughts on the Belden 9497 Speaker Cable and 8402 Interconnect
While I have cables in my system already that work fine, I still mess around with other stuff, most of which is not very expensive. The highly praised 9497 speaker wire turned out to be quite a surprise. For that kind of money it's fantastic. The interconnect using Belden 8402 mic cable and Switchcraft rca plugs? I find it boomy, rolled in the highs, blanket-like veil, slow. It can take an otherwise good system and make it sound like a rack system. That's been MY experience. Any other insight on this? If this is (as they say) a widely used mic cable in studios, it explains a lot regarding many of the crap recordings out there. I was just surprised that it was so bad!
