VTL TL-5 original from 90's not 5.5 who has exper

A VTL TL-5 which I believe began in 93. Can anyone tell me if they owned one of these originals and what your impression was. How much did they cost then compared to the 3K for a 5.5 now. Can it stand up to newer pre's now such as a 2.5 or 5.5 VTL. Any opinions would be appreciated. Rich
