volumio rivo plus and lineo5 - who has heard and can comment on this unit?

the consensus seems to be this is a good streamer

if you have heard it, and have experience with other streamers, can you provide impressions

is this at the level of a Lumin u2 or Innous Zenith?   or is this more ever solo / bluesound level ?

I was on the same ban wagon and I could provide you with the following useful information.  First, here is the conversation I had with Alvin, Founder of VinShine Audio:

Q: "What is your no-confirmation-bias recommendation bet. Rivo Plus + Lhy25VA and Lumio U2 Mini w/ internal LPS upgrade?  Thank you."

A: As much as I would love to sell my Lumin U2 Mini (one ex-demo, and one brand new, sealed unit), I would still honestly say that the RIVO+ is a better sounding unit.

The original RIVO is about the level of the U2 Mini. But the RIVO+ took it further, it’s above the Lumin. I told a few customers here in Singapore the same, and sold several RIVO+ lately for the same reason.

I guess if I continue to do that, I will be stuck with two unsold Lumin U2 mini for a while

Now, Lumin U2 is better than the Mini, with twice of the price but not twice better.  Rivo+/LPS is a level better than the U2 Mini but less than 1/3 price of U2.

Second, take a look at the assessment from Hans and iiwi

1B -------- Innous Zenith Mk3 (Volumio Rivo+ / LPS per iiwi or)

   1/4-------- Innuos Zen Mk3; (Volumio Rivo+ / LPS)

   1/2-------- Volumio Rivo / LPS

   3/4-------- Node ICON

2A ------- Volumio Rivo

So, Rivo+ / LPS could be on par with Zen or Zenith.  Price wise, Rivo+ / LPS is selling at around $1650 New, Zen Mk3 Used (3-5 yrs) is selling around a similar or higher price, and Zenith Mk3 Used (again 3-5 yrs) is selling around $2.5k.  Rivo+ / LPS has richer set of outputs incl. I2s and additional USB for ext. SSD/HDD, while Innuos has CD ripper and built-in SSD.  What else do you want to know?

VinShine uses Lhy LPS25VA which has very decent ripple noise level down to 16 micro Volt (rms) on empty load and 150-200 micro Volt (rms) at full load.  Very decent ratings, much better than Sbooster BOTW P&P ECO MKII (< 1 milliVolt = 1,000 micro Volt at full load).

OP, I ordered one (Rivo+ / Lhy) yesterday from Beatechnik. The ETA is two weeks. I’ll let you know how it performs—I’m curious to see if it lives up to the hype.
