I can relate. They are that involving.....enjoy.... |
Rick called me personally to return my power3. I simply shipped it back as it was in the mail at the time....I imagine it will be a couple of weeks for the cryo-treated power2 replacement...meanwhile I'm mightly impressed with the Audition power cord I bought from him. I'm using acoustic zen satori and matrix wires and am very happy with them but it makes you wonder what his speaker and interconnects are like. They are doing the correct thing, replacing a recall with a better product...I can live with that. Anyone comparing their speaker and interconnects with the big boys? |
Directly into the wall. You don't need a conditioner with them according to Rick. I run the simamp directly into the wall with the Audition cord....if anyone is running VD's into a line conditioner, let us know what you're hearing...feedback is good.... |
I wonder if his power cord extensions work on power conditioners like the monster, panamax, etc.....I think I'll check with Rick and see if they would work there as well. I must say, I'm impressed with the service....they called me last night to let me know they fedexed the cord to me....and I got it today all the way to Nova Scotia from Alberta..... |
Gee Gunbie, if they're left hanging you don't want them to accidently touch....whoops, this sounds Freudian....well, I mean you don't want anything to short....could you simply try biwire and single and see which way you prefer? Also, can't you piggyback the two rights on one terminal and peggyback the two lefts if you use jumpers? Or maybe the jumpers and two spakes perside are too thick for the terminal to connect? Just a thought....let us know how you do and what works best for you...I'm going to move the cryo power 2 off the cd player and try it on the turntable this weekend..then later I'll try it on the preamp, just to get an idea of how it is doing..... |
Sherod, enjoy. When it sounds right we can't help ourselves. Last night I was enjoying the power2 extension on the cd and concur with what you're hearing. Before I shut the system down I put the cord on the power supply of the TT[roxan].....oh my god..... the nylons were right in the room.....and dead quiet background.it was if the space between the speakers had beome bigger and alive.....I was awed before but this is religious....Now I'm going to try the powr 2 on the monster 2000 and see if it works on a power bar...the filtering in the monster may work or not work with the cable, I have no idea....if anyone tries this let me know....life is good. |
Gunbei, yesterday I moved the power2 off the tt and put it on my small panamax that I run plugged into the monster. The reason for this was to use the on/off switch of the panamax for the pam [no switch] and two outboard power supplies which I plug into the panamax. Well, on a whim I put the panamax on the power2 into the wall and connected the cd and tt into the panamax with the pre.....played the nylons again[any a lot of other stuff on vinyl...it was incredable .... this was the best I've ever heard vinyl sound here.voices sound so alive.....then in the evening I played cds....again the same level of improvement. I'm one very happy camper......enjoy the tunes, everyone. Bro57, give Rick a call. See what he thinks...Sherod, I'm sitting here with this big silly grin on my face...I'll live with this... |
A whole month for breakin? Okay, a couple more weeks then for me...you know what scares me? Even Celine Dion is listenable with this cable[for a couple of songs]. Who picks her songs? It's like falling into a vat of maple sugar...Other wise the system is cookin....the bass alone has taken an leap. But the VD2 on the panamex is working very nicely...the preamp, cd, and tt seem to all benefit...here is something neat. When cd first came out I bought some old complilation cds[you know the type, hits of 60. 70', usually bad sounding]. Well, I threw one on last night and on a drifters cut"on broadway....I was hearing the song for the very first time....these VD's put the fun back into music....happy listening everyone. |

Thanks for the info, Megasam. I agree with you on the monster2000. As I have one, I'm going to try the cryoed power 2 on it when I get back next week. I'm curious to see how it works on a power line conditioner like the monster> The panamax is strictly a surge protector. |
Sherod, just send Rick an e-mail...he always seems to respond...... |
Bradz, a used rega 3 is a great painless way to get into vinyl although your Rogue 99 could easily handle the big boys. But the rega is fun and gives you a good look at high-end. If your budget will let you go for a better table, do so..best of luck and good listening. |
Sherod. Is there someone trying to do a knock-off on rick's cables? You could e-mail me with the info if you do not wish to mention here.....Gunbei, that's nice gear....enjoy...yesterday I played one of my nephews vhs tapes through the system.....it was capenter's"Vampires"....the newforms were shaking the place.......I've never heard so much dynamics from the system before and this is on vhs playback????//I was impressed.....haven't jumped to dvd yet.....I believe this virtual dynamics stuff frees the music from the playback chain more than anything I've tried....Go, my banged up Leafs, go..... |
I received my cryo treated power2 extension today for on the cd player....I already have the audition on the amp. even out of the box I'm amazed.....wonder how good this can get. more there, there, richer, fuller with ease in the music flow. This can make me afraid of the dark again because it makes me feel like a little kid.....wow....it just sounds so "right"....if you catch my drift.... |
The vampire movie was shaking good....these are the original r8-2's made in 1993 with two 8" peerless drivers aside using 30" newform ribbons...I'm using mapleshade ribbon jumper cables on the ribbon crossover and also as jumpers between the peerless woofers....with AZ satori single run onto the top woofer...this integrated the drivers as good as anything I've tried....I have an oddball system. Old and modest....roxan zerxes TT, alphason arm, AToc9 and denon 304 cartriges, a Bruce Armstrong rebuild[cd player-Nonpariel]....your cd setup would better it but the analogue section was completely rebuilt, he did 5 of them..simaudio4070se, the old krell pam3[good phono], Yamaha tuner and Nak tape....AZ matrix on amp to pre, ixos itocia on cd..VD autition of amp into wall...pre, tt, cd into panamax with a croed vd power 2 into the wall...everthing else plugged into monster2000 with powerwrap....it isn't pretty, it ain't tubes but it can make music and the VD PC's really show that....Gunbei, I always liked proac's. You've got yourself a very fine system there....oh, I've tweaked the whole setup to the max.....every tweak has a sound it seems... |
Gunbei. Ask Rick about the upgrad when You're ready. Remember besides the audition on my amp I have a croyed power2 Extension on the little panamax surge protector? This feeds the preamp, cd and tt. Well, yesterday I started a tweaking bing replacing "stuff under the compnonents,[Im a confirmed tweakaholic-there is no cure], one by one. The extension cord allowed the "sound resulting" from each tweak to be clearly heard. I listened for fullness of timbre, guitar riffs, quality of bass, and sibilence. Now the cd player is floating on marbles in the spoons held by clay in little bottlecaps that sit on hardrock maple...and I can't believe the improvment across the board...then I put on some vinyl,I was in heaven. The music seemed to leap off the platter and fill the room. Bass was sooo clearrr. You know what I mean. The ambience of live recorded music was startling as if notes and sounds were simply there in space....I'm babbeling but you get the point. If Rick offers a juice bar with his cord it will be a no brainer. Gunbie, I'm sure those blue circles would say "thank-you"..tweaking can make or break some systems, IMO. |
