1950,

Complete BS. Had a full loom of it and all it is is a coax cable with a 10 cent magnet. $10.00 cable for 1K. How do I know? A AC blew up and I opened it. A complete Joke!

So buy all you can as I did and write great things about it and then eat crow like me.
Glory,

Are you saying it was the cost of the material, or lack thereof, that detered you from not liking the sonic character of the UC?
A Radio Shack cable for 1K.

You do not want too know how many pins broke off the IC's and how many shorts in the AC cables I had.

Rick is a great guy but UC was a bad design.
I am trying to get in touch with Rick Schultz to get my Ultra Clear repaired. Does any one hear know his email address ?
Please let me know.

Thanks
Tim
Ric Schultz goes under username Draudio on Audiogon. Perhaps you can e-mail him to start the communication.
Yes there you go needing Rick to repair the cable.

Get rid of it. A very wrong design and a RPITA.

A worthless POS. Two pins broke off in my Pre amp. $$60.00 to remove the RCA inputs and install new ones. You got to love it.
Hi Glory

I love the way the UC sounds. Are there any reasonably priced cables ($1,000)out there that can compete with the UC ?

I used to have the Nordost Tyr. In my humble opinion, the Tyr just cannot compete with the UC.
I have a pair of ultra clear interconnects.
there is a ring on the cable.
i use it on CD PLAYER TO amp.
is the cable has direction?
how can i use it?
thanks
There is a preferred direction to the cables, and it is imperative that you get the same polarity of the magnets at the source and pre/amp end.

First, get a compass and find our which end of the cable attracts the 'north' end of the compass needle. This end will be the 'source' end, or in your case, the end that attaches to the outputs of the CD player. (I'm only 90% sure that this is how it goes. On later Ultra-Clear cables there is a directional arrow, which makes it much easier.)

Make sure that the 'south' end for both cables is at the CD player.

The small brass ring can alter the sound. If the ring/clamp is closer to the 'source', the sound is very slightly more detailed. With the ring/clamp towards the other end of the cable (closer to the pre/amp) the sound is slightly less detailed, but more 'full/rounded'.

The ring/clamp acts like the clamps on the older VD cables, in that apparently reduces micro-vibrations in the conductor. Don't clamp down too hard so as not to damage the cable.
Thank you for your help Juliejoema.I will try to test the direction.

anyone try to use UC as DIGITAL cable?
one RCA PIN of my cable is broken, how to repair it?
can i change it to WBT PLUGS?
