I have found the same to be true. The full on disappearing act requires my speakers to be about six feet into the room with no sidewall interactions. They are incredibly accurate. The downsides are that it is sometimes a little uncomfortable to be sitting so close to the speaker,and I could use a little more bass. The bass that is there is superbe.
