Video Streaming—CBS, etc

I spend a lot more time listening to music than I do watching video, so I apparently didn’t notice a situation that others may know more about.  We don’t get cable, as I cut the cord a decade ago and using Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Hulu during  football and basketball seasons.  We get over the air “regular channels “ and record stuff with a DVR.  My wife likes to record a few shows from CBS, namely Sixty Minutes and the Sunday Morning News show, and now we can’t record them.  Googling the situation reveals that CBS created its own app, and it now apparently is taken over by Paramount.  This all happened a year or so ago but apparently the great shut off
just occurred.    The app is only $5 a month, but Googling also reveals that at least when it was just CBS, one couldn’t set a DVR to record a show (according to an article in PC Magazine).  I couldn’t find out if the situation changes under Paramount.  I suppose I should just pony up $5 a month and find out, but what the heck, maybe someone here knows the answer, and if not, at least I get the satisfaction of venting.  An app that won’t let you record and makes you watch in real time just isn’t going to fit the lifestyle of most people and seems like a return to the 1960s.
I suppose that every Network will now have their own App, and content aggregators such as Hulu will bite the dust.  The cable networks will also ultimately lose viewers.  The base Cable Package is now almost twice what it was when I cut the cord, and I estimate that I have saved at least $100/month since doing so for the last 10 years.

I’m not sure I understand what you’re saying. You can no longer DVR (or videotape) content from OTA network channels? They (CBS) can somehow block this on your DVR?

wow. Those are the same programs I would DVR.

T.

Edit: I get a bundle through Apple TV+ for Paramount+ & Showime @ $9.99/month.
Those programs are free the CBS Roku app. It's on my Sony TV.
Try an AVS forum.
CBS Live. Free, painless.
.I have no clue what you are using to DVR digital broadcast stations but that is probably where the issue resides.
I do have a cannot be bothered to verify your claims
Happy hunting.
