vibration control

Do most folks use vibration control under all components?--ie cd---preamp---amp---dac---and line conditioner as well?
How do you folks set yours up presuming you utilize vibration control--thanks

Rok2id... The idea of making speaker enclosures out of concrete proved ineffective. Concrete rings like a bell.
Rok2id... A solid slab of concrete will, because of its mass, minimize transmission of vibration to the floor. A hollow concrete structure "rings".
Rodman99999... I took the trouble to investigate the effect of vibration on solid state electronics.

A high gain circuit (phono preamp) was placed in a box along with a speaker, and bombarded with high dB music. There was no audible or measurable effect on the preamp output.

What is your explanation?
Rodman99999... There was no audible or measurable preamp output as a result of the severe vibration environment.

What part of "no" do you not understand?
The human ear is a very sensitive instrument. No argument. However, what our ear hears comes out of a loudspeaker. A loudspeaker only responds to voltage. Voltage is measurable. If the voltage (waveform) applied to the speaker is identical, with or without vibration, then the sound it emits is identical regardless of what Rodman thinks.
Lacee... The purpose of a loudspeaker is to produce vibration (of air). Management of enclosure vibration is perhaps the most important part of speaker enclosure design.
But, as Rok2id points out, we are takling about the effect of vibration on the electronics that provide the electrical signal. The speaker is the same, with or without vibration on the electronics.
Rok2id... Retired now, but I worked for 40 years on missile guidance systems.

The hardware is designed to work under extreme vibration. The shaker used to perform vibration testing shakes the whole factory building when in use. The effect of vibration is to induce mechanical faults. Bad solder joints let go, screws come loose, stuff like that. We never see a purely electronic failure, or digital data dropout.

Of course, the requirements on a nuclear armed missile aren't as severe as Rodman's audio amp. What the hell. So we hit the Chinese embassy. Big deal.
