Vib isolation/ signal loss/ distance???

Currently, my audio stand is between my speakers (Thiel CS2.4, 8 ft spread). The stand has spiked feet, and is sand filled, but I still can feel vibrations on all components. I realize that the vibrations could be air as well as floor. SO, if I move the components-is it better to leave the amp between the speakers to keep the speaker cable run short, and get a long pair of interconnects, or move the whole system to a side wall, using a longer run for the speakers? I guess I really want to know if A)the amp can survive the close proximity to the speakers, and B)if interconnect has less signal loss than speaker cable. I see alot of people who place their components between the speakers, then try to isolate. I welcome all comments.
