Vandersteen VLR CT

OK I have to bump this year old thread because I can't find much information anywhere about the VLR CT. I've searched but haven't round any reviews or much discussion.

As I posted in the thread about the new 2C Sig III, I owned a pair of Signature 3As and loved them. I downsized and have missed them ever since.

It's hard to imagine what a small speaker from Vandersteen might sound like but I know it wouldn't exist if it wasn't something special.

I'm listening to comparable size, slightly more expensive Revel speakers in one system and they're great, but.... the whole concentric driver, carbon tweeter, each pair hand tuned, designed by Richard Vandersteen...I have to hear them but can't in the present state of the planet. 

Any proud owners of VLR CT care to share more info ?

I’ve had my VLR CTs for over a year now. I couldn’t be happier. In the past I was usually bitten by the speaker upgrade bug after about 6 months. I listen to these things everyday and am still more than happy with them.

Thank you for the reply. That's encouraging. I definitely need to go longer than 6 months before upgrading speakers because I tend to keep everything I like and just add to my collection instead of selling them on.

But do the VLR CT have a ’Vandersteen’ sound ? such as the floor standing models or is that not possible with a stand mount speaker ?

@edicionretro I haven't heard the CT in anything so that's the reason I asked if they have a Vandersteen sound. If you preferred them over classic Vandersteens that's saying a lot.

I found the web site for Sunny's, oddly they're not listed as a dealer on the Vandersteen site. I'm about 125 miles north of Covina so that's a possibility...eventually.

@tomic601 Thanks. I had my assistant engineer call all the L.A. Vandersteen dealers last fall, including Optimal Enchantment and they did not have the VLR CT. I don't think he called Sunny's. I just checked the Vandersteen web site and now Sunny's comes up as a dealer so I'll check them both out when I venture south. 

As of yesterday we're now required to wear a mask in public here in California so I'm not headed out to audition anything any time soon.
