Vandersteen 2c vs Thiel CS2

Is there a way to find manufacture date on Thiels from their serial number? 
@tomic601 I still have an SPL meter that came with my SVS subwoofer I bought years ago. No longer own the sub but still have that meter.

@rcprince I'm pretty happy with my current setup but when I see a good deal on speakers it's hard to resist. I was thinking of buying both vandersteen and Thiel and comparing them with my von Schweikert speakers. Would keep the winner and sell the other pairs. It's just the excitement of getting new equipment :)

@adg101 vandersteens come with original stands. 

@tomic601 can I buy new socks from vandersteen directly or do I have to roam eBay for them?

Vandersteen folks just replied to me. It's $48 per sock which is fine but the only accept money orders through the mail. No CC, PayPal, etc. Probably a couple of weeks at least until I get them.
