USB Recording Media - Does It Matter?

I record digital audio files off my Mac computer to USB drives which play in my new car. I am new to this. I recorded a bunch of music on a no-name USB drive and lo and behold about 4 songs into my drive to work the disc started reloading and my system flashed "unsupported" then a few seconds later music started playing again. This has happened repeatedly. So, I am wondering if there is something wrong with the no-name disc such as not allowing the data to flow fast enough to my player, at least intermittiently, that is causing this annoying problem. I have no problem with a different USB stick. Thanks in advance for your help.
