Upgrading Turntable: Pro-ject 6perspex or Rega RP6 (upgraded cartridge)

Hi all - asking for some advice on upgrading my turntable. I'm currently running a decade-old Pro-ject Debut Carbon (stock ortofon red) into a Cronus Magnum II and LS 50s with dual SVS SB-1000s. For my birthday, wife is asking if I want to upgrade a component on her dime - knew she was the one!

I've got a connection who said he'll sell his Rega RP6 with upgraded Ortofon Black for $1100. I did find a used Pro-ject 6perspex with a Ortofon Bronze for $1250 at a used dealer about 4 hours away, but I'd make a weekend out of it. Both are within my (wife's ;-)) budget.

A lot of the reviews are old and no head-to-heads. Normally I'd try to test both, but given the distance to the 6perspex, I don't think that'll play with my wife.

Thoughts from this awesome community? Next upgrade would likely be a pre-amp (tube - as I want to keep it all analog). Any suggestions there? Haven't begun my research on that.

Thanks as always!
