Up From Oppo?

Hi folks. I recently got back into audio and enjoying the journey. I have been trying different equipment and have not settled in completely, as if any audiophile does. I have a Rogue integrated coming and have both the Buchardt S300 and Elac 62 speakers along with Audience Ohno cables. For a source, I pulled the Oppo 93 DVD player from my AV system and have been playing CDs with it. A lot of development and improvements have been made since I got the 93 so of course, The sound is quite good but I am wondering what I’m missing. I’d like to start by using the 93 for a transport and maybe adding a different DAC. I figure if I like what I’m hearing I can always upgrade to the Cambridge transport later.
Looking at Schiit mostly because they are very good have generated massive media presence, but am also considered other things like Cambridge and Bluesound streamer Dacs. Not having looked into it completely, is it possible to hook a transport to one of these streamers and play CDs through using it's DAC or is the streaming function discrete?
I’m trying to keep it within spitting distance of $1000-$1500 because I am seriously prone to price creep.
The audiophile in me doesn’t believe it could be as easy as adding something cheap like a Modi 3, could it?
My thanks in advance. I’m not one to delve into this stuff deeply so the esoteric stuff will be beyond me.
I plan to put on my grave stone, "Plug and Play"

What are you looking to replace?  DAC?  CD Transport with built in DAC?  It isn't clear from your posting so that is probably why you haven't received any responses
Rejection, What's new? heh.
I bought a Denifrips Ares II and a couple Coax cables so I'll be hooking it up to the digital out from the 93 to the ares and plugging the analog outs into my Yamaha S801 amp.
I'll have the analog out from the 93 plugged into a different 801 input,  so I can AB from my listening position using the remote to select inputs. Instant comparisons.
I'll figure it out. I anticipate the Ares Will be excellent...I hope. They don't have a return policy.
So if the Ares II crushes the 93, the question becomes do I continue to use the 93 for a transport or pop for one of the "affordable" Transports. Musical Fidelity 6000 or the Cambridge?
I have heard great things about both but am not a fan of the MF CD slot. I might have to get over that in view of reasonable price and excellent reviews.
