Tweaking suspension on Michell Orbe

Hello,

To all the Michell table users out there - how did you go about tuning your suspension for the perfect "bounce"? What is the "goal" of the suspension tuning and how do you tell when you have it just right?

The instruction manual for the table recommends to set the springs so there are ~2mm of distance between the fabric pads at the bottom of the springs and the bottom of the metal subchassis. I've approximated this - but there is a decent amount of side to side motion in my bounce.

Any Michell tuning experts around?

Thanks in advance

The springs will put frequencies into the deck all the time, as you start the deck up it tries to twist the chassis,, continues to do this whilst in use,,
they are also away of making sure the belt is the correct tightness, they perform as a cam moving them center the chassis and also the belt tightness, the problem is the adjuster can be out of alignment ,,
this means that the centering is off and also the tightness of the belt ,,
the platter on spinning up causing the springs to move and slacking of the belt ,causing wow and flutter ,,
